Job purpose / role 

 

The Third Party Middle Office is a key function within the Chief Markets Office (CMO) at Allianz Re. It provides the services and tools required by the Third Party Front Office, which is the client facing team within CMO in charge of sourcing reinsurance business for Allianz Re from Third Party cedents (i.e. from non-affiliated companies). 

Allianz Re targets Third Party business including agricultural business globally with specific focus on certain European, Asian and US markets. The Middle Office plays a vital role in shaping and optimising the portfolio and supporting data driven decisions in a deal/portfolio context. The responsibilities of the Third Party Middle Office include the pricing of the relevant reinsurance treaty business, corresponding analytics and operational support including ongoing performance monitoring, planning and reporting. 

The Expert for Reinsurance Analytics role reports to the Heat of Business Analytics and forms an integral pillar of the CMO MO reporting and analytical abilities.   

 


Key responsibilities

 

•    Measure and quantify the ongoing business performance insights on the basis of agreed KPIs and support of Third Party reinsurance business steering decisions
•    Conceive and develop the analysis and reporting of estimates focussing on financial and actuarial monitoring including IFRS17 KPIs
•    Analyse and enhance the CMO links into the Nat Cat exposure monitoring and align and integrate the process further into CMO
•    Work cross functionally, e.g. Controlling, Actuarial and Claims, to drive the analytics and present the regular portfolio review meetings.
•    Perform and execute monitoring and regular governance reviews supporting the wider CMO function
•    Generate reports and presentations to communicate underwriting results, trends, and recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders including preparatory work for the retrocession placement.
•    Project work in relation to the shaping and further development of the Third Party reinsurance business and broader Allianz Re topics.    

 


Qualification

 

•    Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage one’s own workflow
•    Good understanding of insurance companies’ financial statements and representation of reinsurance contracts therein.
•    Property and Casualty (P&C) Reinsurance knowledge, ideally gained in an actuarial or related finance function    
•    Strong IT skills and practical user experience to create and execute opportunities to automate
•    Excellent Microsoft office skills especially excel. Experience with data analysis and AI tools is a plus
•    0-4 years of experience working in the (re)insurance industry
•    University degree in mathematics, actuarial science, business administration, business engineering or comparable analytical field
•    Fluent in English (spoken and written), German is a plus
