The Impact You Will Have  

Our Global Pricing & Portfolio department at Allianz Commercial is seeking an experienced App Developer / Data Engineer to develop portfolio steering tools & approaches across the business, with a focus on Global Lines of Business.  

You will collaborate with business users across various functions to design concepts, tools, and processes to enhance profitability understanding within Allianz Commercial’s portfolio.  You will engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate these into business solutions that support decision-making and drive profitability.   

Furthermore, you will play an active role in Allianz Commercial’s Underwriting transformation journey by implementing advanced analytics and statistical methods, contributing to a data-driven future across the business. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Develop and optimize portfolio steering dashboards and solutions across various lines of business – including profitability analysis, target setting, KPI monitoring, and reporting – to assist Underwriting strategy and decision making. 

  • Develop and optimize data pipelines and architectures in Azure Synapse and Databricks using PySpark for large-scale data processing and analytics. 

  • Develop solutions based on business needs: capture data requirements from key stakeholders, translate business requirements into working code, and collaborate with business users and owners to determine which capabilities and features drive value. 

  • Support the implementation of strategy into concrete underwriting actions, impacting pricing, volatility management, and risk accumulation. 

  • Mentor business users to become self-sufficient practitioners, providing demos, training, and support to underwriters and other users. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in science or engineering, such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. 

  • Extensive experience in Azure Synapse and Databricks, including proficiency in data integration, transformation, and analytics using PySpark. 

  • Strong experience in Front-end development using PowerBI and other reporting tools (Javascript/HTML5/CSS), with a strong focus on data visualization. 

  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and distributed computing (e.g. PySpark, SQL). 

  • Proficiency in product design accompanied with substantial experience in data analytics and programming, demonstrating advanced analytical capabilities to analyze complex data from multiple sources; and identify and resolve issues effectively.  

  • Experience working within the agile development environment, adept at managing data and projects using agile methodologies. 

  • Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.  

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, consistently revising approaches in response to new information and evolving requirements. 

  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members across multiple geographies, gathering requirements, delivering solutions, and eliciting suggestions and feedback. 

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for varied audiences.  Capable of clearly expressing ideas and messages, both written and verbally, and effectively presenting compelling narratives to audiences, whether prepared or improvised.
