Job purpose / role
Allianz Re acts as Allianz Group's portfolio manager. Ceding reinsurance is a powerful tool to steer the magnitude and composition of our global portfolio. The Group Ceded Re Team within Allianz Re aligns the Group's risk appetite, defines and implements the Group reinsurance strategy. We use ceded reinsurance to manage exposures within the Group risk appetite and optimize the risk reward relationship.
You are a senior expert in the Group Ceded Re Team who will drive the evolution of Allianz Group’s outgoing reinsurance landscape in order to enable Allianz Re to act as the portfolio manager within the Allianz Group. You will report to the Global Head of Group Ceded Reinsurance.
Key responsibilities
- You will be developing and structuring as well as reviewing and adjusting Allianz Group's reinsurance protections in order to match with the risk appetite.
- You will be solely responsible for the placement of reinsurance protections with our reinsurance and retrocession partners.
- You will develop target reinsurance pricing for outwards covers and negotiate target prices with global brokers and reinsurers.
- You will be taking a lead role in building and fostering relationships to reinsurers, investors and reinsurance brokers.
- You will be vital in preparing the Group Retrocession and External Reinsurance Committee including pre-alignment with other stakeholders in the Group.
- Close collaboration with Allianz Re Underwriting and Client Management, Allianz Operating Entities and Allianz SE Group Centers is essential.
- You will co-ordinate and facilitate the annual meetings with the global reinsurance brokers of Allianz.
- You will be briefing the Allianz SE Board members as well as Allianz Re Functional Board members in advance of international reinsurance meetings (e.g. Monte Carlo, Baden-Baden).
- You will manage data and conduct analyses on Group reinsurance cessions to externals and remuneration of global brokers.
- You will be resolving conflicts, escalating where necessary and managing resistance.
Qualification
- University degree in business administration, economics or similar.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in reinsurance underwriting, client management and/or broking, ideally at least 5 years experience in outgoing reinsurance.
- English fluency; good knowledge of German and additional languages are a plus
- Experience with data analysis and AI tools is a plus

- In-depth experience in the re-/insurance industry domain
- Proficiency in reinsurance technique incl. in-depth knowledge of reinsurance wordings

- Profound knowledge of cat models and ability to interprete and explain results
- Consulting and diplomatic skills e.g. relationship management
- Performance oriented, self-motivated individual with pro-active problem solving skills
- Capability to interact with key decision makers, also on Executive Board level, and to influence them
