Strategic Provider Steering Manager (m/x/d)
München, DE, 81677
Job Purpose/Role:
The Strategic Provider Steering Manager leads the performance steering function for Allianz Direct's global provider landscape, spanning Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands. This role owns and continuously develops the performance steering framework that governs how Allianz Direct manages third-party providers across the claims value chain, personally drives steering execution for our most strategic partners, and ensures the framework is applied consistently by markets for the broader non-strategic provider base.
Reporting directly to the Head of Claims Effectiveness, the Strategic Provider Steering Manager leads a lean, geographically distributed team and works closely with Technical Claims and Claims Oversight to ensure provider steering decisions are grounded in robust data and analytics. You bring a deep understanding of the key performance measures needed to steer providers toward mutually beneficial outcomes, and you know how to translate that into a framework that scales across markets rather than a set of one-off relationships.
With Allianz Direct you act at global scale. You lead by example, empowering your team to grow every day while embracing an agile way of working and an AI-forward mindset. As a senior member of the Claims Effectiveness function, you have the drive to accelerate provider performance and share that know-how with international colleagues, supporting Allianz Direct's ambition to become digitally unbeatable.
Key responsibilities:
- Own, design, and continuously evolve the global performance steering framework (KPIs, scorecards, escalation triggers, review cadence) applied across all Claims provider categories to drive business benefits and indemnity savings across Allianz Direct portfolios
- Define and maintain the criteria distinguishing strategic from non-strategic provider treatment, and set global standards for provider performance benchmarking, analytics, and reporting
- Directly lead the performance dialogue and steering cycle for strategic providers: negotiate KPIs/SLAs, run business reviews, and drive corrective action plans
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic provider partners, and lead scouting, onboarding, and exit decisions in coordination with market teams
- Monitor market-level adherence to the framework for non-strategic providers, providing tooling, templates, and escalation paths so markets can apply it consistently and independently
- Identify and intervene where markets deviate materially from framework standards or performance thresholds
- Partner with Market Heads of Claims, Global Technical Claims and Claims Oversight to ensure data and analytics feed effectively into steering decisions
- Represent provider steering in Claims Effectiveness governance forums and leadership reporting
Qualifications / key skills
- Bachelor's or university degree in a related field
- Significant experience in claims provider/vendor management, procurement, or partnership management within insurance or a comparable regulated industry
- Proven track record designing and leading performance management frameworks across a multi-market, multi-vendor portfolio
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and steer internal and external partners toward strategic objectives
- Strong analytical skills to make good, timely, data-driven strategic decisions
- Demonstrated affinity for AI-enabled ways of working, with the ability to identify and champion opportunities to embed AI-driven tools and analytics into provider steering and performance management processes
- Effective communication skills to work with stakeholders in a global business environment
- Excellent level of English; other languages a plus, particularly German, Italian, and French
