About the Role


At Allianz Direct, we are building a digital, data-driven, and people-centric organization, where People & Culture plays a critical role in enabling business performance and transformation.


As Head of People & Culture (P&C) Spain, you will define and execute the P&C strategy across our operations in the Spanish market. Leading a team of 2 People Consultants and a Senior People Business Partner, you ensure excellence in all core P&C processes and cultivate a strong, engaging, and future-ready employee experience. In this role, you act as the senior P&C leader for the region, advising local leadership teams and collaborating closely with the Employee Representative Bodies (Comité de Empresa) at each site.


Beyond your Spain responsibilities, you serve as an active member of our global People & Culture community, driving strategic people initiatives that fuel Allianz Direct's growth and cultural development across all markets.

 


Key responsibilities

 


1. Strategic People & Culture Leadership
•    Develop and implement end-to-end P&C strategies that sustainably support the business and translate business priorities into impactful people solutions.
•    Assess the P&C implications of the business strategy and design appropriate interventions and programs.
•    Lead cultural transformation initiatives that strengthen organizational behaviors, engagement, and performance culture across the Spanish operations.
•    Collaborate with P&C peers and experts across other countries to shape and implement cross-market programs and initiatives, leveraging data and AI-driven insights to enhance decision-making.


2. Business Partnering & Strategic Advisory incl Comité de Empresa Relationships
•    Partner with and coach business leaders, acting as a strategic advisor on all people‑related topics, with a strong focus on driving ownership and performance culture.
•    Provide guidance and coaching to people leaders and employees on employee‑relations matters, ensuring a fair, compliant, and consistent approach aligned with Spanish labor law (Estatuto de los Trabajadores).
•    Serve as a trusted contact person for the Workers Council, fostering constructive and transparent collaboration.
•    Lead and steer Workers Council negotiations, ensuring effective preparation, clear communication of business requirements, and strong partnership throughout all consultation and co‑determination processes.


3. People Programs, Processes & Employee Experience
•    Execute P&C programs and manage regular P&C processes (e.g., rewards, performance, talent, development, recruiting, organizational changes) in close partnership with business areas and P&C Centers of Expertise.
•    Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention—including performance management, career development, and recognition programs.
•    Utilize AI-enabled tools and data analytics to optimize P&C processes and improve decision-making across talent management and organizational planning.


4. Leadership of the P&C Team
•    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of P&C professionals across the Spanish operations, modeling high levels of ownership and performance excellence.
•    Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous learning, and innovation within the team, driving accountability and results.

 


Qualifications/Key skills:


Professional Experience


•    Minimum of 8 years of relevant P&C/HR experience, ideally in an international or global organization.
•    Proven experience leading cultural transformation, organizational change, and modernization programs that have driven measurable shifts in employee engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
•    Proven experience working with employee representative bodies, including strong knowledge of Spanish labor law (Estatuto de los Trabajadores, Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos).
•    Demonstrated experience managing organizational change, including restructuring and transformation programs with a global scope.
•    Experience leveraging AI and data analytics tools in HR/P&C processes to enhance decision-making and organizational efficiency.
•    Ability to work effectively in a matrix and virtual team environment across multiple locations.

•    Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all organizational levels, including Senior Management.
•    Excellent negotiation skills, including in complex or sensitive situations, with the ability to steer discussions toward desired outcomes.
•    Strong communication skills and fluency in both Spanish and English—capable of clearly articulating strategy and driving alignment across diverse audiences.
•    High level of ownership and accountability, with demonstrated ability to take initiative, drive results, and maintain personal responsibility for outcomes.
•    Strong performance mindset with a focus on setting clear expectations, measuring results, and driving continuous improvement across all P&C functions.
•    High level of autonomy, resilience, and a hands-on, can-do attitude.
•    Openness to technology and AI-driven solutions, with the ability to evaluate and implement tools that enhance P&C effectiveness and employee experience.


Education


Bachelor's or Master's degree in law, business, psychology, or a related field.
