As part of this global network, the Iberia region at Allianz Commercial, covering Spain and Portugal, delivers tailored insurance solutions for businesses in these key markets. We are now seeking a Regional Head of Financial Lines Iberia, based in Madrid, to lead and grow our Financial Lines portfolio in this dynamic and strategically important region.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Managing Director Iberia, you will develop and execute the regional strategy for Financial Lines and proactively support the development of the global strategy. You will manage the regional portfolio and provide leadership to all Financial Lines employees within the region.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Develop and execute the strategy for the Financial Lines portfolio for the Iberia region within the framework of the global strategy for the Line of Business (LoB).
- Develop a targeting strategy for new opportunities in the Financial Lines market.
- Manage a team of underwriters with different levels of expertise.
- Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, etc.) to enable the delivery of underwriting targets.
- Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets.
- Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers.
- Underwrite and take referrals in line with the Financial Lines governance framework – e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules, and Principles.
- Proactively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business.
- Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- 7-10 years of experience underwriting profitable business in the Financial Lines segment of large corporate international insurance.
- Experience in leadership and development of direct teams and within complex global matrix environments.
- Specialized understanding of regional/national Financial Lines insurance markets and competitor landscape.
- Well recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and a well-established presence within the local market.
- Ability to negotiate effectively, achieving the best outcome for your portfolio while maintaining positive business relationships with your clients and brokers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to persuade and motivate others to act.
- Ability to leverage data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective. Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.
- Expert understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
- Fluent in English and Spanish skills.
