Overall Objectives:

 

  • Create and build data ingestion pipelines using Azure Synapse Pipelines, Azure Functions and Synapse Notebooks as well as developing script in Python or PySpark for automation.
  • Extract data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, flat files and other cloud or on-premises systems.
  • Maintain and optimize Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools for data storage and analytical queries.
  • Manage code using Git for source control and CI/CD, ensuring consistent and governed deployment of pipelines and artifacts across environments.
  • Automate failure handling, alerts and retries to minimize operational overhead and provide technical troubleshooting, issue resolution and continuous support for data delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure that data meets business needs and is delivered on time. Engage with leadership and functional leads to ensure alignment and support.
  • Ensure adherence to security, privacy and development guidelines whilst also documenting processes and data flows for transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and automate data maintenance processes and foster a data-driven culture and advocate for the benefits of data management.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement Azure- and Databricks-based data platforms in alignment with Allianz Group architecture standards.
  • Build scalable, secure pipelines for ingestion, transformation, modeling, and consumption using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, and Spark.
  • Develop reusable data products supporting Group-wide analytics, reporting, and operational intelligence.
  • Drive the implementation of Allianz’s Lakehouse strategy using Databricks and Unity Catalog.
  • Engineer robust ELT/ETL frameworks across Azure, AWS, Snowflake, and hybrid environments common within Allianz Business Units.
  • Optimize performance, cost, and scalability of cloud-native data platforms.
  • Introduce automation, CI/CD, DevOps, and governance patterns specific to Allianz’s regulated environments.
  • Collaborate with senior business stakeholders, solution architects, and CDO teams to translate business needs into scalable technical architectures.
  • Lead architecture workshops and define data roadmaps, modernization plans, and platform adoption strategies across Allianz entities.
  • Guide Allianz teams through Document DB adoption, lineage/governance enhancements, and migration to unified catalog-based governance.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using Data Vault, Dimensional, and enterprise modeling standards (Erwin/ER/Studio).
  • Implement Allianz-aligned governance frameworks including data quality, lineage, metadata, access controls, and compliance.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Group Data governance standards, taxonomies, and architectural decision records (ADRs).
  • Work across Allianz’s global delivery ecosystem—Solution Architects, Platform Engineers, Data Stewards, and Product Owners.
  • Provide thought leadership on data integration, analytics modernization, and enterprise data mesh/lakehouse patterns.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and influence product roadmaps relevant to Allianz’s technology strategy.
