TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENT MANAGER – PERSONAL INJURY & COMMERCIAL – MELBOURNE, VIC (12 MONTH CONTRACT)

About the role
The primary purpose of the role is to provide technical and operational advice and direction for Personal Injury, workers compensation Victoria, and manage a team to deliver the appropriate level of technical engagement within our social insurance cases and programs.

 

  • Ensure timely technical intervention occurs over the lifecycle of each claim, and technical specialists are aware and capable of undertaking their responsibilities and that processes and programs are described, implemented, complied with and controlled appropriately.
  • Develop key relationships with relevant Worksafe staff and become aware of the regulators’ key scheme liability management objectives, plans, and expectations of its Agents.
  • Be responsible for WorkSafe's Integrity Review program and allocate resorting responsibilities of the Claims Specialists dedicated to that program.
  • Consult, collaborate, and influence Technical Specialists that have the responsibility of supporting the broader program requirements.
  • Create processes and procedures that support the wider program objectives of ensuring consistent and strategic Technical Specialist intervention into case management.
  • Ensure all programs have adequate targets, controls and measures in face and the performance is regularly reviewed and communicated.
  • Own Policy and Procedure documents, including any changes and enhancements that are relevant to the technical intervention programs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on any environmental development that has the potential to impact upon claims strategies and performance.
  • Provide recommendations to the Claims Manager into projects and initiatives that can improve claims management objectives.
  • Raise technical capability, improvements in technical decision making and performance awareness across the business.

 

About you

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Victorian Workers’ Compensation legislation and regulations
  • Significant experience in managing technical claims and situations and an ability to discuss complex matters with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working within the Victorian Scheme, preferably within an Agent environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and empower people to develop individual and team potential
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to establish strong professional relationships and influence outcomes
  • Experience in project management and operational improvement, including target setting, process / performance analysis, development, improvement and reporting
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively, organize tasks, and manage competing resources and demands
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends, and links that inform judgements and solutions
  • Highly developed ’first principles’ problem-solving skills, combined with a curious and creative mind-set, with the ability to identify opportunities and create innovative improvement solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
