Allianz Commercial’s Specialty & Major Accounts division is looking for a senior claims specialist to join our Short Tail Claims team in Australia.  The Short Tail claims portfolio includes construction, natural resources, renewables, property and marine.

Reporting to the National Manager – Claims, Specialty & Major Accounts, the successful candidate will manage a variety of Short Tail claims across Australia and New Zealand.   They will develop and oversee claims resolution strategies for their assigned portfolio in consultation with colleagues as appropriate, manage external service providers and engage with Allianz Commercial’s market-leading global claims community.   They will provide claims feedback to underwriters, actuaries and our global Chief Claims Office, and support business development initiatives involving the Short Tail lines of business.

About the role

  • Managing a portfolio of commercial claims across multiple jurisdictions, adhering to authority levels within the Short Tail business lines.
  • Developing relationships with customers and brokers and contribute to the delivery of a superior claims service which puts the best interests of our customers at the heart of everything we do.
  • Engaging with global large loss teams as per authority procedures and uphold a "no surprises" reporting philosophy.
  • Monitoring your assigned claims portfolio to ensure claims are handled efficiently, appropriately, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Reporting and presenting loss and claims information to stakeholders, maximizing recoverable income and managing external service providers.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and keeping abreast of claims and industry trends.

About you

  • Require at least five years industry experience with a sound knowledge of insurance claims (preferably first party construction claims) and the steps required to take claims from notification through to settlement.  While experience working for an insurer is preferred, we are open to candidates from other relevant industry backgrounds such as loss adjusting, broking and insurance litigation.
  • Need to have excellent communication skills, with strong analytical, strategic, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Should have negotiation and investigation skills, with a capacity to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage tasks and resources.
  • Current knowledge of insurance guidelines, legislation, and regulations, demonstrate proficiency with relevant systems and tools, and uphold a growth mindset with a commitment to ethics and professionalism.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
