The Commercial division is Allianz Australia's largest distribution channel whose customers include Commercial, Corporate and international buyer groups throughout Australia and New Zealand. We currently have an opening for a Commercial Underwriter to join our team to work on complex mid-market/ corporate accounts in accordance with the business unit plan, underwriting guidelines and delegated authority limits.
This role will suit an experienced Underwriter with proven success underwriting commercial, liability, property or motor fleet risks. You will underwrite large and commercially significant risks in our motor dealership portfolio and, engage with a range of brokers across the country.
About the role
- Manage end-to-end underwriting processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements, ensuring timely delivery of quality products and services.
- Develop and maintain strong broker relationships, leveraging negotiation skills to drive new business and maximise account retention.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build a sustainable new business pipeline and proactively address customer needs with tailored solutions.
- Monitor and manage underwriting portfolio performance, applying remediation to stressed accounts to maintain profitability and mitigate risks.
- Stay informed on market trends and maintain an active presence within the regional and Line of Business community to support strategic positioning.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in a commercial underwriting or account management role, specifically within property, liability, or motor fleet risk in General Insurance.
- Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative, trusted relationships with key intermediaries to drive business outcomes and position AAL as a market leader.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.
- Customer-centric approach, with a track record of delivering high-quality services and optimising value to enhance customer experience and retention.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify actionable insights, and communicate with clarity and impact.
