The primary purpose of this role is to underwrite business in accordance with relevant Underwriting Frameworks and Strategy, Allianz Standards for Underwriting (ASU) within Loss Control standards and within delegated authority levels, providing service for our partners having regard to the needs and circumstances of customers and to act as a coach and referral point for Underwriters as per referral processes.

About the role

• Deliver exceptional service standards by managing underwriting workflows across new business, renewals, quotes, endorsements, surveys, and referrals to create seamless customer experiences.
• Build and nurture trusted relationships across a designated portfolio, balancing customer needs with sustainable underwriting solutions for private and commercial insurance clients.
• Apply sound underwriting judgment within delegated authority to support profitable growth, retention of valued accounts, and long-term portfolio health.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and intermediaries to review renewals, identify new business opportunities, and strengthen conversion outcomes.
• Stay attentive to market trends, compliance requirements, and portfolio performance to proactively manage risk, maintain profitability, and support business objectives.
• Mentor and empower fellow underwriters by sharing expertise, developing capability, and serving as a trusted referral point for complex underwriting decisions.

About you

• Possesses extensive expertise in underwriting across operational, private, or commercial insurance within a dynamic and complex general insurance environment.
• Exhibits exceptional organisational abilities, adept at prioritising tasks and managing competing demands with efficiency.
• Applies strong analytical skills and critical thinking to interpret data, recognise patterns, and develop well-informed, strategic solutions.
• Maintains a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, swiftly identifying inconsistencies, and delivering high-quality, precise work.
• Communicates with clarity, effectively simplifying complex concepts into actionable insights that enable confident decision-making.
• A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
• Experience or an interest in operational management or leadership in a complex, matrixed general insurance organisation
