We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager to join our team, playing a pivotal role in managing and reviewing workers' compensation claims, particularly focusing on the 52–130-week timeframe. This position requires a deep understanding of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation (WIRC) Act, along with the ability to coach and mentor case managers and engage constructively with employers. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough reviews of claims within the second entitlement period to ensure compliance with legislation, serving as a subject matter expert in claims management, and applying advanced knowledge of the WIRC Act to guide complex cases.

About the Role
- Providing technical and legal knowledge as well as strategic advice to claims staff and customers of Allianz
- Implementation of the second entitlement period including whole person impairment assessments
- Supporting in the growth and development of our claims staff, helping with their technical queries and case management challenges
- Being accountable for all procedures and outcomes that require Technical Manager endorsement and oversight
- Actively contributing to team goals, assisting other team members, and fostering a positive working environment
- Demonstrating leadership within the team and setting a positive example through behaviour modelling
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve operational controls and processes
About You
- Previous technical management or specialist experience in Workers’ Compensation or a Personal Injury scheme
- Significant experience in managing technical claims/situations and ability to discuss complex matters with internal and external stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of Victorian Workers’ Compensation legislation and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, reporting, and communication tools including ACCtion & Novus
- Ability to provide ad hoc coaching and support to the team
- Accreditation in AMA4 guides desirable but not required
