This role establishes architecture guardrails, including AI development standards and governance, while enabling teams to innovate and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. It works closely with enterprise, global, and solution architects to maintain alignment with strategic technology goals.

  • Drive architectural alignment across squads, ensuring solutions meet enterprise standards, strategic objectives, security requirements, and global architecture principles.
  • Assess emerging technologies, including AI, and provide recommendations that support innovation, scalability, and business outcomes.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective architecture and solution designs.
  • Lead architecture planning and design activities, evaluating technology options and guiding strategic technology decisions.
  • Champion adoption of new technologies and AI capabilities, establishing governance, standards, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise policies while managing dependencies, stakeholder relationships, and delivery of strategic IT initiatives.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in enterprise IT environments, ideally within financial services or insurance, with a strong background in architecture and solution design.
  • Broad technical expertise across cloud, infrastructure, security, applications, databases, middleware, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong ability to define and guide technology strategy, making architectural decisions that support scalability, performance, and business objectives.
  • Experience in FinOps, cost optimisation, forecasting, and designing financially efficient technology solutions.
  • Knowledge of AI development, governance, AI SecOps, secure-by-design principles, and relevant industry frameworks and standards.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, IT control frameworks, and compliance requirements in regulated environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
