We are looking for an Actuarial Expert with experience in core reserving.

 

Exp : 2yrs to 9yrs

Location : Trivandrum/Pune(Hybrid)

Mandatory Skills: Reserving, Res Q, Python Or R programming skills

 

Overview:

 

You are passionate about using actuarial insight to support better commercial decision‑making and take pride in producing analysis that is accurate, well‑governed and decision‑ready.

With experience in Pricing and/or Reserving, you bring strong actuarial judgement, attention to detail and a disciplined approach to applying actuarial standards. You are comfortable working with uncertainty, explaining results clearly, and constructively challenging existing approaches where appropriate.

 

You are a strong team player who collaborates well across functions, supports the development of junior colleagues, and is able to step in to provide cover and continuity when required.

 

We’re looking for:

  • A strong actuarial background (qualification desirable)
  • Significant experience in Pricing and/or Reserving, with valuation and claims development expertise
  • Excellent working knowledge of actuarial methods and principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, and strong capability in data manipulation using tools such as Python and/or SAS, and actuarial tooling (e.g. ResQ)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to actuarial standards, governance and documentation
  • Comfortable challenging the norm constructively and supporting continuous improvement.

 

The Details

  • Deliver valuation and reporting outputs that support the Pricing Best Estimate (PBE) and Pricing’s independent view of claims costs.
  • Develop and maintain claims development analysis (including claims triangles) and assess past and projected ultimate claims costs.
  • Analyse and manipulate data using appropriate actuarial and data tools (e.g. ResQ, SAS, Python, advanced Excel) to ensure outputs are accurate, controlled and repeatable.
  • Produce clear commentary and presentation material to support senior forums, including Insurance Committee, Trade Committee and Pricing & Underwriting forums.
  • Apply strong actuarial standards and governance, including documentation of methods, assumptions, checks and limitations.
  • Work closely with Reserving, Finance, Claims and Data to ensure assumptions and methodologies are robust, understood and consistently applied.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team through technical guidance, review and knowledge sharing.
  • Deputise for the Pricing Valuation and Reporting Manager when required to ensure continuity of delivery and stakeholder engagement.
