Product Category Manager
Office of the President
Purpose of the Role
As The Product Category Manager you will be responsible for the overall strategy, growth, performance, and management of the assigned product category. As the category owner, your role ensures that customer needs, market opportunities, competitive insights, and business goals are translated into a product portfolio strategy that delivers business growth, customer value, and long-term success.
Your role manages the entire product lifecycle, from idea generation and product development to launch, commercialization, ongoing improvement, and performance monitoring. You will work closely with the Products Team (PDM and Pricing), IT, Operations, Distribution, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Legal to deliver product initiatives that support Allianz PNB Life’s business objectives and strengthen its position in the market.
In addition to launching and managing products, your role is responsible for driving category growth, maintaining a healthy portfolio, ensuring product competitiveness, and achieving business results. Success in this role requires strong business judgment, strategic thinking, effective governance, and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to make informed decisions, improve speed to market, and maximize the value of the product portfolio.
Responsibilities of the Role
Category Strategy, Portfolio Growth & Product Roadmap Ownership (Primary Pillar):
Define and execute category strategy, portfolio growth priorities, target segments, product roles, roadmap initiatives, and strategic opportunities. Drive the design, approval, and delivery of new products, riders, funds, repricing, enhancements, and portfolio actions from ideation through launch. Ensure customer value, commercial viability, regulatory compliance, system readiness, and launch readiness are aligned.
Cross-Functional Orchestration & Execution Discipline:
Lead enterprise-wide alignment across IT, Operations, Marketing, Pricing, Distribution, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Customer/CX, and other stakeholders to deliver category objectives. Influence decision-making, resolve competing priorities, and drive effective execution through collaboration rather than formal authority.
Governance, Risk, and Regulatory Compliance:
100% compliance with governance gates; no audit findings or breaches attributable to missing product evidence; accurate and complete documentation; timely IC/BSP and internal/regional submissions.
Portfolio Performance & Lifecycle Management:
Monitor and actively manage category and portfolio performance against business objectives, customer outcomes, and commercial targets.
