Sales Training Manager

Distribution

Purpose of the Role

As a Sales Training Manager, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and embedding practical training and coaching programs that equip HSBC Team Heads with the leadership capabilities required to drive insurance sales activity management and improve frontline performance.

The primary objective of your role is to support Team Heads who have transitioned from Relationship Manager roles into people leadership roles. As the Sales Training Manager, you will help them shift from being individual contributors to effective sales leaders who can coach Relationship Managers, manage activity discipline, strengthen insurance sales conversations, and grow sustainable insurance performance across the HSBC bancassurance channel.

Your role will partner closely with HSBC Channel Sales Leadership, Team Heads, Branch and Wealth Management stakeholders, and Allianz learning, product, and distribution teams. While the role strongly influences insurance productivity, activation, conversion, and penetration, accountability for sales production and revenue targets remains with HSBC Distribution Leadership and frontline sales teams.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Sales Leader Training Strategy: Develop and execute a practical training roadmap for HSBC Team Heads aligned with insurance sales priorities, channel growth objectives, and identified leadership capability gaps; translate business objectives into learning interventions that help Team Heads lead sales activity, coach Relationship Managers, and improve execution discipline.
  • Team Head Capability Development: Design and deliver structured learning programs that help former Relationship Managers transition into sales leadership roles, with focus on role clarity, activity management, coaching routines, performance conversations, insurance opportunity identification, and leading through influence.
  • Sales Activity Management Excellence: Equip Team Heads with tools, routines, and management practices to monitor sales activity, review pipeline quality, drive consistent referral and customer engagement behavior, reinforce follow-through, and use activity indicators to improve insurance sales outcomes.
  • Leader Coaching and Field Application: Coach Team Heads on how to conduct effective one-on-ones, field observations, huddles, performance reviews, and developmental coaching conversations; provide practical feedback and reinforcement to ensure learning is applied in day-to-day sales leadership routines.
  • Insurance Sales Capability Reinforcement: Support Team Heads in reinforcing core insurance selling behaviors among Relationship Managers, including customer needs discovery, protection and wealth conversations, product positioning, objection handling, campaign execution, compliance readiness, and quality customer outcomes. Conduct onboarding, product, and fund trainings for Relationship Managers to ensure strong baseline readiness, product knowledge, investment fund understanding, and confidence in customer conversations.
  • Learning Effectiveness and Business Impact Measurement: Track training adoption, leadership behavior change, coaching quality, and application of activity management routines; use performance and capability insights to refine training interventions and recommend improvements to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong working relationships with HSBC Channel Sales Leadership, Team Heads, Branch and Wealth Management stakeholders, HSBC Training, and Allianz Product, Marketing, Distribution, and Learning teams to ensure training priorities remain aligned with business needs.

Requirements for the Role

  • Strong experience as a Training Manager, Sales Training Manager, Leadership Development Manager, or similar role within insurance, bancassurance, wealth management, financial services, or sales distribution environments.
  • Proven ability to develop and coach sales leaders, especially new or transitioning people leaders who need to shift from individual sales contribution to team performance leadership.
  • Strong understanding of sales activity management, pipeline management, sales cadence, coaching routines, performance conversations, and sales leadership operating rhythms.
  • Ability to design practical learning journeys, workshops, coaching clinics, playbooks, leader guides, and field application tools that improve day-to-day sales leadership behavior.
  • Deep familiarity with insurance or wealth advisory sales processes, including needs-based selling, customer conversations, referral generation, objection handling, compliance, and quality sales outcomes.
  • Able to conduct effective Relationship Manager onboarding, product, and fund trainings that translate insurance and investment concepts into practical customer conversation skills, compliant selling behaviors, and field application.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, performance consulting, and field observation skills.
  • Uses training metrics, sales activity indicators, and stakeholder feedback to identify capability gaps, refine interventions, and recommend practical performance improvement actions.
  • Experience with AI-driven adaptive learning technologies and data analysis for personalized training.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools for content recommendation, automated assessment, and feedback.
