Job Description:

We are looking for a highly experienced and self-driven Senior DB2 Developer/Engineer with deep technical expertise in DB2 LUW and DB2 pureScale environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience (10+ years) in database administration, automation, and DevOps-based maintenance solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Ansible and scripting, and the ability to work across on-premises and cloud platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for DB2 LUW and pureScale maintenance using Ansible, Python, Shell, or YAML-based scripts.
  • Lead and manage DB2 infrastructure automation initiatives across hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments.
  • Optimize and modernize existing DB2 workflows, identifying opportunities for performance improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for DB2-related deployments and maintenance activities using modern DevOps practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex DB2 performance, connectivity, and replication issues in clustered and cloud setups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud engineers, to ensure seamless database operations.
  • Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and reporting mechanisms for DB2 environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and review automation code/scripts for quality and maintainability.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, ensuring timely delivery of database automation features and enhancements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all automation, workflows, and configurations.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in DB2 LUW administration and development (preferably v10.5 or later).
  • Strong expertise in DB2 pureScale environments, including setup, maintenance, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience with automation and configuration management tools, particularly Ansible.
  • Proficiency in DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) and integration of automation tools within enterprise workflows.
  • Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, Bash, and YAML for automating DB2 tasks and maintenance.
  • Excellent understanding of database internals, backup/recovery strategies, HADR, and performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience managing DB2 in cloud or hybrid infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize complex DB2 systems.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive automation initiatives end-to-end.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating DB2 with cloud-native tools and services.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, or OpenShift for DB2 deployments.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent for database observability.
  • IBM Certified Database Administrator or equivalent certification.
