Tech Lead AI & Automation Centre of Excellence

Position Overview

The Tech Lead AI & Automation Centre of Excellence represents a transformational leadership role at the forefront of IF&IS pillar of Allianz Technology's digital evolution. This position will drive and implement the Ai Automation strategy for IF&IS with strategic AI & automation initiatives within the Infrastructure & Information Security (IF&IS) pillar while also spearheading global AI services and capabilities that unlock the power of next-generation agentic AI capabilities across the IF&IS organization.

As a key strategic partner to the Head of IF&IS Automation & Integration, you will shape the future of how IF&IS pillar of Allianz technology leverages intelligent automation, autonomous AI agents, and advanced orchestration to deliver exceptional business outcomes, operational resilience, and competitive advantage.

This position is at the forefront of innovation, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic AI Automation direction for our pillar, collaborate with leaders across the company to drive AI Automation strategies and inspire teams to develop innovative solutions, ensuring Allianz remains a world’s best insurance company.

Strategic Responsibilities

AI & Automation Strategy Leadership

• Partner with the Head of IF&IS Automation & Integration and Automation SMEs from different functions to co-develop and execute comprehensive AI & automation strategies for IF&IS and enterprise-wide initiatives
• Drive the strategic roadmap implementation for AI Maturity at IF&IS with agentic AI at the core of the strategy, enabling autonomous decision-making systems that can perceive environments, plan multi-step workflows, and execute complex tasks with minimal human oversight.
• Establish AI Automation governance frameworks that ensure transparency, scale and responsible AI deployment while accelerating innovation velocity across global operations
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with business units, technology teams, and executive stakeholders to align AI initiatives with IF&IS and Allianz Technology strategic objectives & priorities.

Global AI Automation Services Development & Product management

• You will also play lead AI Automation Architect & Solution design expert in the team and will lead the Design and delivery of scalable AI-powered services and platforms that transform customer experience, operations, security monitoring, stability and business process automation
• Champion the deployment of enterprise agentic AI systems capable of real-time learning, adaptive planning, and autonomous workflow optimization
• Oversee the development of AI copilots, intelligent orchestration engines, and cognitive automation solutions that enhance productivity and decision-making quality
• Ensure AI services architecture supports Allianz's multi-continental operations with robust security, compliance, and performance standards.

Innovation & Technology Enablement

• Identify and evaluate emerging AI technologies, particularly in areas of autonomous agents, large language models, and intelligent process automation
• Drive proof-of-concept initiatives that demonstrate measurable business value and scalable implementation pathways
• Foster partnerships with leading technology vendors, research institutions, and AI ecosystem players to maintain competitive advantage
• Lead the organization's adoption of cutting-edge AI capabilities including generative AI, multi-agent collaboration, and real-time decision optimization

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

• Lead and oversee the financial performance of this business-critical set of AI Automation services. Good business acumen and Finance knowledge is important to track and prepare budgets, Business cases.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and innovation.
• Ensure alignment with IF&IS and Allianz Tech global vision and Business strategies.
• Evaluate key business and organizational challenges, developing innovative solutions within broad company policies.
• Influence and persuade stakeholders to align with strategic objectives and initiatives.

Operational Excellence

CoE Leadership & Governance

• Build and mentor a high-performing team of AI architects, automation engineers, data scientists, and platform specialists
• Establish and maintain AI governance policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory compliance frameworks that protect our organisation while enabling innovation
• Implement comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, and risk management systems for autonomous AI deployments
• Drive continuous improvement culture through feedback loops, performance analytics, and iterative enhancement of AI services

Enterprise Integration & Delivery

• Lead the integration of AI capabilities and key resources/tools to setup Agentic AI foundations to optimise existing IF&IS ecosystem including infrastructure, security operations, and business processes
• Ensure seamless interoperability between agentic AI systems, traditional IT infrastructure, and business applications
• Manage complex stakeholder relationships across global teams, ensuring alignment and successful adoption of AI solutions
• Drive measurable outcomes including operational efficiency gains, cycle time reductions, enhanced security posture, and cost optimization

Required Qualifications

Leadership & Experience

• Minimum 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in AI, automation, digital transformation, or enterprise technology roles
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale AI/automation initiatives in global enterprises, preferably in financial services, insurance, or highly regulated industries
• Demonstrated success in building and leading cross-functional teams, managing complex stakeholder relationships, and driving organizational change
• Experience with enterprise AI governance, responsible AI practices, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, particularly within a matrixed organization.

• Technical Expertise

  • In your role, you would be Architecting end2end AI Automation products and services with AI compatible front end,backend and orchtration. Hence Deep understanding with ability to solution design and Architect GenAI,agentic AI ,advanced Automation architectures, including autonomous decision-making systems, multi-agent collaboration, and intelligent orchestration platforms & frameworks.
  • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise AI & Advanced Automation technologies: large language models, machine learning platforms, cognitive automation,AIOPS,RPA,analytics etc
  • Strong familiarity with diverse infrastructure engineering & automation, cloud platforms, security operations, and enterprise integration technologies
  • Understanding of AI ethics, explainability, bias mitigation, and risk management in production AI systems
  • As you would be solution designing end 2 end AI Automation products/services, hands on knowledge of latest technologies is important :
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience with MLOps practices and tools for deploying and managing ML models at scale.
  • Generative AI: Langchain, LlamaIndex, GANs, VAEs, transformers, diffusion models
  • Agentic frameworks: AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, crewAI, Promptflow, Langflow, Langraph
  • REST API development (Flask, FastAPI), scalable backend (Spring Boot, Node.js) and Frontend: React,Angular
  • DevOps & Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, Argo, Helm, AWS, Azure

Strategic & Business Acumen

• Exceptional strategic thinking capabilities with ability to translate emerging technologies into actionable business strategies and measurable outcomes
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing substantial technology budgets and ROI optimization is important.
• Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with proven ability to engage effectively with Senior executives, technical teams, and global stakeholders
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience combined with relevant AI/automation certifications
