Job Description

Rocket Software Microfocus Enterprise Server

Overall Objectives of Job:

 

The Senior System Admin is responsible for managing and maintaining the Microfocus Enterprise Server environment, ensuring its stability, security, and compliance. This role requires expertise in CICS and JES2, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams. The primary objectives for this role are to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the Microfocus Enterprise Solution.

 

 

PART 1

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Environment Management: Oversee and maintain the Microfocus Enterprise Server, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • CICS Region and Transaction Management: Manage CICS regions and transactions to facilitate seamless processing and integration within the enterprise environment.
  • Job Queue Monitoring: Monitor and manage JES2 job queues and outputs to ensure timely and accurate job execution.
  • System Maintenance: Perform regular system upgrades and patches to maintain system integrity and performance.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Collaboration with Application Team: Work closely with the Application Team to support COBOL, JCL, and REXX-related tasks, ensuring alignment and integration across systems.
  • Developer Support: Provide assistance to developers using Microfocus Enterprise Developer (MFED), ensuring effective integration with source control systems and debugging capabilities.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure system security and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards, safeguarding data and resources.
  • Configuring new CICS regions for specific applications and optimizing JES2 job queues to improve overall system efficiency.

Primary Skills  

 

 

  • Proficiency in Microfocus Enterprise Server (MFES).
  • Expertise in CICS (Customer Information Control System).
  • Knowledge of JES2 (Job Entry Subsystem 2).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic AI understanding is mandatory
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PART 3

 

Qualification, Experience, Technical and Functional Skills

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Microfocus Enterprise Server
  • Experience in IT infrastructure management and server provisioning.
  • Ability to interact with IT Managers, Service Desks, and Service Providers in the region on own initiative, as well as escalate topics when necessary.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
