Specialty Credit Mid Term is a business division of Allianz Trade, the global leader in credit insurance.It offers political risk and credit insurance solutions to enable multinationals, corporates, banks and multilaterals to take advantage of attractive investment, financing and trade opportunities in international markets.

The product wallet has been spreading into a wide range of customized insurance solutions to cover Export & Trade Finance, Infrastructure & Structured Finance.  

The role

The Senior Credit underwriter analyzes and underwrites complex transactions from Corporate & Trade Finance, Structured Credit & Sovereign risk, on the basis of the underwriting guidelines applicable to the Allianz Trade CPRI Line of Business. Having a senior credit experience, he shares his expertise and provides solutions to strenghten the credit pillar of the Line of Business.

Main tasks

1. Credit Underwriting
   • Evaluate and monitor the credit risk associated with loans and insurance cover inquiries and has a deep culture and knowledge of the credit analysis of financial statements.
   • Conduct in-depth a sectorial, financial and legal risks analysis on the transaction and the related obligors in coordination with the Credit  Information and Research Departments of Allianz Trade and any internal or external credit expertise (sector reviews, peer benchmark..)
   • For more complex and structured credit transactions  (pre-export finance, aircraft financing, Project finance and Reserve-Based lending...), conduct a critical assessment on the project and the financing scheme and is able to collect and challenge external information sources.
   • Ability to underwrite public and private buyers  with a strong focus on obligors located in emerging countries for short term and medium term commitments. Decide within a credit risk authority level according to seniority and/or submit to higher credit authority levels in relation to large or complex underwriting decisions.
   • Strictly abide by underwriting principles defined by Allianz Trade credit framework and governance
2. Support to Commercial Underwriting
   • Support the origination team to pre-screen and identify bankable projects, and to grow and develop new business transactions.
   • Actively contribute to set-up and develop worldwide-insured portfolio of sovereign and private obligors (Corporates and Financial Institutions)  located in developed and emerging markets and in with a particular focus on Export & Trade Finance or Project Finance transactions.
   • Take the lead in knowledge sharing and actively train the team (and also commercial underwriters) in its credit expertise.
   • Sharing of practice with the industry or product community. Initiate collaboration and share expertise as a subject matter expert, providing advice, peer review and contribution.
   • Participate in conferences, support commercial underwriters during meetings with customers and undertake market analysis when relevant
3. Portfolio Management
   • Organize active monitoring of the risk portfolio.
   • Take active part to the management of existing “live” portfolio through appropriate risk monitoring, propose mitigants and implement if/when appropriate.
   • Handle waiver requests, input into regular credit reviews.
   • Participate in group transversal projects in relation to credit underwriting

Profile

• At least 6 years experience in Trade Credit Insurance, Banking,Multilaterals and/or ECAs
• Advanced knowledge of the credit insurance industry, products and regulations
• Expert knowledge of risk management, including underwriting and risk governance
• Expert knowledge of business analysis techniques and financial assessment skills
• Competent knowledge of trade related financing products (factoring,forfaiting etc)
• Advanced ability to communicate well via all mediums (eg. email, phone) and at all levels of an organisation within a multicultural setting
• Competent ability to convince stakeholders in discussion and presentation of ideas and analysis
• Advanced knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian
• Open in new way of working : IA, IA agent, automation, Machine Learning...
