The Strategic Program Manager for Provider Invoice Management (PIM) is a senior leadership role within the Allianz Partners Global Office responsible for translating the global PIM strategy into consistent, measurable, and scalable execution across 26+ Business Units. Sitting directly under the Head of PIM, this role leads a global team driving performance steering, operational governance, digital enablement, process standardization, and capability development for a function that processes ~6 million invoices and ~€1B annually.

 

The role serves as the strategic integrator between global vision and operational execution—ensuring that global PIM standards, productivity targets, governance frameworks, digital transformation, and best-practice operating models are consistently embedded across all countries. This position plays a key role in elevating the maturity of the PIM function, ensuring compliance, optimizing costs, enabling transformation projects, and building a sustainable training and continuous improvement culture globally.

 

 

What you do/Key Responsibilities

 

1. Global Strategy Execution & Program Leadership

  • Translate the global PIM strategy and target operating model into actionable programs and initiatives across all regions.
  • Lead execution of multi-year strategic programs including digital transformation, AI deployment, automation scaling, and operational harmonization.
  • Act as a critical thought partner to the Head of PIM, contributing to strategy shaping, prioritization, and decision-making.
  • Oversee strategic alignment of all PIM initiatives across 26+ BUs, ensuring global consistency and local adoption.

2. Leadership of the Global PIM Program Office

  • Lead and develop a global team covering run steering, project management, governance, process optimization, and training.
  • Establish clear priorities, accountability frameworks, ways of working, and performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Ensure integrated planning and collaboration across team members to avoid siloed efforts and maximize impact.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and proactive risk mitigation.

3. Performance Management & Operational Steering

  • Oversee global performance and productivity monitoring, ensuring all BUs meet targets on backlog, aging, SLAs, FTE levels, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Ensure robust performance dashboards, KPIs, reporting standards, and business review cadences are in place and adhered to.
  • Identify performance gaps, coordinate root-cause analysis, and mandate corrective action plans in collaboration with BU leadership.
  • Present high-quality performance insights and recommendations to senior management and the Head of PIM.

4. Governance, Compliance, and Risk Oversight

  • Own the global PIM governance and process adherence framework, ensuring all BUs operate in line with approved standards.
  • Ensure consistent implementation and refresh of the target operating model, PIM blueprints, global process flows, and policy documents.
  • Act as the escalation point for governance, process deviations, audit findings, and compliance risks.
  • Coordinate global audit response, remediation plans, and periodic reporting to the Head of PIM.
  • Support regulatory and compliance assessments impacting PIM and ensure timely alignment with changing requirements.

5. Digital Transformation, AI Deployment & Tool Adoption

  • Lead the rollout of digital and AI-driven solutions across BUs, ensuring adoption, change management, and performance utilization tracking.
  • Partner closely with IT, Data, and Digital teams to prioritize enhancements, manage demand, and ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Oversee monitoring of digital utilization rates and troubleshooting to maximize automation impact.
  • Drive BU onboarding for new systems, technology features, and AI-enabled workflows.

6. Global Process Improvement & Best Practice Harmonization

  • Direct global standardization efforts including mapping activities, sizing, staffing optimization, and cross-BU benchmarking.
  • Ensure validated best practices are embedded into the target operating model and leveraged globally.
  • Oversee identification of efficiency opportunities, cost reductions, and process streamlining initiatives.
  • Ensure continuous improvement principles are embedded into the culture through training, coaching, and recurring reviews.

7. Global Training, Capability Building, and Change Management

  • Oversee the global PIM training framework, including onboarding materials, training curricula, job aids, and digital learning assets.
  • Lead capability uplift initiatives related to AI, automation, new tools, new processes, and governance requirements.
  • Ensure that BU personnel are trained, assessed, and certified (if applicable) against global standards.
  • Coordinate change management for major global rollouts, ensuring readiness, communication, and post-implementation stabilization.

8. Senior Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key liaison between global PIM and regional PIM leaders, Ops heads, Finance, IT, Compliance, HR, and Digital teams.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to adopt global decisions, standards, and transformation timelines.
  • Provide structured updates and insights to the Head of PIM and senior leadership teams.
  • Ensure all global PIM programs are aligned with corporate priorities, resource constraints, and operational realities.

 

 

What you bring/Key Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or similar) preferred.
  • Certifications highly valued: Lean Six Sigma, PMP/PRINCE2, Agile, or other relevant programs.

Experience & Expertise

  • 8–12+ years of experience in operations, strategic program management, or transformation roles, ideally within insurance, assistance, shared services, or financial services.
  • Proven experience managing multi-national programs and teams in a matrix environment.
  • Strong expertise in performance management, operational steering, and process optimization.
  • Deep understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and audit resolution.
  • Significant experience deploying digital tools, automation, or AI-driven process improvements.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects across diverse, cross-cultural environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to convert vision into executable, scalable plans.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills; able to motivate and develop a global team.
  • Strong analytical capability with proficiency in Power BI, OneBI, process mapping tools, and advanced Excel.
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to influence senior stakeholders and present to executive leadership.
  • High resilience, adaptability, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on outcomes and impact.
  • Professional fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus (Spanish, Italian advantageous).
