The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Head of Legal for Travel LoB, playing a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive legal support across various business functions. This position is essential for ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations and aligning legal strategies with the organization’s strategic objectives. The role requires strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to deal with legal matters and requires a very robust understanding of the business models pursued by Allianz Partners Travel LoB.
What you do
- Legal Advisory: Provide solution-oriented and pragmatic expert legal advice on legal matters (such as cross-selling, licensing, territoriality, distribution), and contractual matters affecting Sales, Underwriting, and other stakeholders. Navigate complex legal issues and daily business activities specific to the Travel LoB.
- Legal Feasibility checks : Verify the legal feasiblity with local Legal teams and ensure compliance of the solutions offered to business partners. Conduct in-depth legal research on insurance distribution, licensing requirements, as well as in relation to innovative products and new projects.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Lead the drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of business contracts including insurance distribution, third party services (e.g. payment providers, GDS) business partners contracts, ensuring compliance with local legislation and alignment with global business strategies.
- Product Standards: Provide legal review of product documentation at FOS level, including GOST, POG, customer sales journey, insurance policies, IPIDs and supplementary documentation and customer communications.
- Audit Support: Collaborate effectively with teams to ensure prompt and thorough responses to audit findings, focusing on legal implications and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Legal Tools and Knowledge Management: Use and maintain legal tools and databases, ensuring they reflect current legal practices and standards relevant to the Travel LoB.
- Training: Deliver legal training to the Travel LoB team members (Sales in particular) on relevant regulatory and contractual topics.
- Support for Legal Head: Provide comprehensive assistance to the Head of Legal for Travel LoB on various legal matters, contributing to strategic development, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance efforts.
What you bring
- A relevant law degree and a valid EU legal qualification are required, ensuring a strong foundation in legal principles.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience as a qualified lawyer, either in a law firm or in-house, with a focus on commercial and contract law, complex contractual set up and insurance distribution.
- Solid knowledge in diverse legal fields, including insurance contract and distribution law, EU insurance regulations and supervisory law, customer protection law.
- Structured and analytical mindset to tackle complex problems while remaining adaptable to changing business environments.

- Foster strong collaboration across local legal, regions, departments, effectively engaging with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
- Deliver clear, professional legal advice in both written and oral formats, particularly in contractual matters, distribution, insurance customer journey and marketing.
- Understand the intersection of legal requirements and business objectives, actively supporting Allianz Partners in achieving strategic goals.
- Fluent business English and local language; proficiency in additional languages, is advantageous.
