What you do
Allianz Partners Japan is strengthening its Compliance capability at a critical point of growth and regulatory change. This role has been created to safeguard the business can continue to operate safely, credibly and in line with regulatory expectations across its in scope entities. You contribute both locally and through a relevant Compliance Global Practice Group of Allianz Partners.
This is a delivery-focused Compliance role. The emphasis is on identifying risk, closing control gaps, supporting audits and regulatory reviews, promoting a culture of integrity and fostering compliance frameworks work in practice — not just on paper. You will work closely with senior leaders, regulators and auditors, and will be expected to exercise sound judgement, provide challenge where needed, and drive tangible outcomes.
Reporting to the Allianz Partners Regional Head of Compliance, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy and visibility - whilst taking into consideration local regulations, Allianz Partners’ internal rules and Alliant Group requirements.
The position holder acts likewise as MLRO for Ticketguard as per regulatory requirements.
Your main responsibilities are to:
- Lead compliance support for in scope Allianz Partners entities, fostering adherence to applicable laws, regulations and internal standards.
- Identify and assess regulatory requirements, risks and emerging trends, and drive mitigation actions in line with Allianz Partners Compliance programs.
- Steer the implementation and continuous improvement of compliance requirements and Group Standards across jurisdictions, working within the three lines of defense model.
- Oversee compliance related processes and controls, including contribution to reviews and quality assurance activities, and drive remediation of identified gaps.
- Support investigations and escalations in alignment with Group Investigation and Compliance teams.
- Engage with regulators and external stakeholders as required, representing Allianz Partners in a clear, credible and pragmatic manner.
- Provide compliance input to new and existing business activities, including projects and M&A related matters, in collaboration with Global Practice Groups and the wider Compliance community.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) policies and procedures, in close alignment with Allianz SE Group policies.
- Oversee due diligence on stakeholders by 1st LoD, transactional monitoring and act as an escalation point for 1st LoD for suspicious transactions, including submission of the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other regulatory filings as required to the relevant authorities.
- Design, organize and conduct trainings on AML/CTF regulations and compliance processes, including to the members of the board of directors per regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML/CTF laws, regulations, and best practices, and oversee implementation of required compliance measures as a part of regulatory change monitoring.
- Work effectively in an environment shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics and cloud-based tools, using insight responsibly and in line with our standards for data governance, security and ethical use.
What you bring
- Strong experience in regulatory compliance and risk management within a highly regulated environment, ideally financial services or insurance.
- A proven track record of delivering audit, assurance or remediation outcomes, including closing control gaps under time and stakeholder pressure.
- Confidence operating at senior levels of the organization, with the ability to influence, challenge and advise effectively.
- Sound understanding of international compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements (e.g. insurance law, financial crime, conduct related regulation).
- Comprehensive experience in all compliance assigned risk areas, specifically in Economic Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorist Financing within the financial services sector, along with familiarity with screening tools and risk management practices.
- A pragmatic, hands on mindset — comfortable moving from analysis to execution when needed.
- Strong analytical, judgement and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in international, matrixed environments and collaborating across geographies.
- A relevant university degree (e.g. Law, Finance, Economics or similar) and/or equivalent professional experience; compliance certification (e.g. ICA) is an advantage.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Compliance or AML certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA, or equivalent) preferred
- Business level proficiency in Japanese language skills
