We are looking for a Chief of Staff, Asia Pacific, who will be based in Singapore.

 

Job Purpose

The Chief of Staff supports the region to work as one coherent business — translating strategy into execution, aligning functions and countries, and enabling faster, higher-quality decisions.

This role acts as a strategic partner to the President, Commercial, APAC, providing comprehensive support and coordination of strategic business initiatives for the Region.

The role serves as a key partner in facilitating the success of the Allianz Commercial strategy for the Region. The role is required to oversee strategic projects, ensuring alignment and execution of business strategies, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Partnership and Advisory:

  • Trusted advisor to the President identifying issues impacting commitments.
  • Support communication between executive teams and other stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic counsel and act as an extension of the President.
  • Be a core member of the EMT, steering peers and operating across function.
  • Work across board areas to translate functional priorities in to local implementation.

 

Strategy and Change:

  • Define, support, and execute business strategy for the Region.
  • Prepare and coordinate strategic priorities and frameworks for discussions.
  • Coordinate with senior stakeholders, acting as a sounding board to the President.
  • Focus on the delivery of the Commercial model.
  • Manage regional input to steering cycle (SD, PD etc).

 

Project Management and Leadership:

  • Lead strategic projects, ensuring alignment among stakeholders.
  • Coordinate business-wide procedures to improve processes.
  • Manage the regional QBR process, driving clear strategy and supporting the gathering of information across all functions.

 

Communication and Coordination:

  • Foster timely and relevant communication across departments.
  • Deliver analysis and consultancy to improve business operations.
  • Ensure consistency in strategic coordination across the Region.

 

Budget Management:

  • Oversee budget responsibilities, ensuring effective allocation and management of financial resources.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to align budget planning with strategic objectives.

 

Key Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in (re)insurance, ideally P&C insurance.
  • Deep understanding of Insurer Operating model and wider insurance industry context.
  • Strong strategic and financial analysis skills, with a results/action orientation
  • Proven Leadership skills with ability to grasp complex problems and develop creative solutions to these problems
  • Proven track record of successful management of projects involving various stakeholders. Ability to manage projects and develop solutions in a complex environment.
  • Deep experience of working in a global matrix organisation including aligning with various stakeholders/functions globally
  • Sound understanding of Corporate Underwriting and Trading principles

 

Required Skills

  • Understanding insurance financial statements and related key performance indicators, key financial ratios and business drivers.
  • Strategy Development: Ability to translate business priorities into clear, data‑driven strategic plans that guide long‑term direction.
  • Driving Change and Innovation: Ability to lead transformation initiatives and embed a culture of continuous improvement and innovative thinking.
  • Project management: Ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, project controlling, monitoring, and reporting, moderation techniques) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).
  • Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficiency in AI skills: Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
