Job Purpose
The role is responsible for driving profitable growth in the P&C business in the Asia Pacific region, by looking at the business from an E2E perspective with a particular focus on driving technical excellence in pricing, portfolio management, product design, underwriting and claims strategy. A side responsibility will be on sales strategy and how to identify and establish profitable distribution channels
What you do
- Management of the AZ Asia Pacific P&C P&L for 6 operating entities to ensure growth and profitability targets are met
- Leading and driving projects for profitability improvements across operating entities
- Establish Best Practice and AZ Group standards in Technical Excellence in pricing, portfolio management and claim
- Design regional and local P&C growth strategies in alignment with regional office and local operating entities. This includes identifying profitable growth segments and products, as well as profitable distribution channel
- Assist OEs in development of new products (pricing, risk analysis and profitability analysis) and manage product referral
- Collaboration with technical communities in Asia Pacific countries and AZ Group, sharing best practices and organization of regional conferences, workshops and training
- Support M&A activity in reviewing and drawing up plans for P&C target portfolio
What you bring
- >5 years experience in a P&C insurance operating entity in technical functions (pricing, product development portfolio management, underwriting); >2 years of leadership experience as team lead, project lead or product owner
- Good knowledge of mathematical statictics and predictive modeling
- Experience in the development of strong end to end solutions, all the way through from problem definition to full analysis to development of actionable recommendation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complicated processes and concepts to non-expert
- Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills with the ability to work independently and resolve complex problems without direct supervision
- Self-motivated / proactive with natural curiosity to ask probing questions and ensure that those questions lead to appropriate action
- Experience with sales strategy and development of distribution channels in P&C insurance
- Experience of SAS, SQL and/or Python and knowledge of Willis Towers Watson software (Emblem, Classifier, Radar)
- Fluency in an Asian language where AZ Asia Pacific has significant P&C business would be an advantage
- Degree in Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or related field
