Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MRLO)

What you do:

Governance and Oversight

• Act as the appointed MLRO in accordance with applicable AML legislation
• Ensure the effective implementation of AML/CTF policies, procedures, and controls
• Provide regular reporting to senior management and the Board

Suspicious Activity Reporting

• Assess internal alerts and determine reporting obligations
• Ensure timely filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to competent authorities
• Act as the primary point of contact with the Financial Intelligence Unit

Risk Management and Controls

• Lead the AML/CTF risk assessment and ensure application of a risk‑based approach
• Oversee Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and customer risk rating processes
• Ensure effectiveness of transaction monitoring, name screening, and alert handling

Life Insurance Business Oversight

• Ensure AML controls are effectively implemented across the full product lifecycle, including:
• Customer onboarding
• Premium payments
• Policy changes and early surrender
• Claims and beneficiary payouts
• Identify and escalate life insurance‑specific AML risk indicators

Monitoring and Decision-Making

• Review complex cases and provide final decisions on escalated alerts
• Ensure proper documentation and audit trail of decisions

Training and Culture

• Ensure AML/CTF training programs are implemented and maintained
• Promote awareness of AML risks across all relevant business units

Regulatory and Audit Interaction

• Act as primary contact for supervisory authorities
• Lead AML inspections and audits
• Ensure timely and effective remediation of findings

What you bring:

• University degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in AML/CTF or Compliance, preferably within insurance or financial services
• Proven experience in a senior AML or MLRO role
• In-depth knowledge of:
• EU AML regulatory framework and local legislation
• AML/CTF risk management methodologies
• Life insurance products and associated risks
• Experience in working with regulators and senior management
• Experience with using Generative AI (ChatGPT, Copilot etc)
