Specialist - Application Designer (m/f/d)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Designer to join our Agile Delivery Centre. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications, with a strong emphasis on SAS development, business analysis, and technical design. The successful candidate will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions, ensure compliance with enterprise strategies and regulations, and support the lifecycle of applications and projects.
This position requires fluency in French and English, follows the French calendar, and operates within CET working hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Design & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain SAS applications for operational reporting and analytics.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using SAS.
- Analyze technical impacts of functional requirements and propose innovative solutions.
- Optimize existing code and technical stacks for performance improvements.
- Design and develop unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications and implementation processes.
- Configure solution components and ensure compliance of delivered solutions.
Business Analysis & Functional Expertise
- Collect, analyze, and challenge business needs with a focus on simplification and enhancement of Group and local solutions.
- Model, describe, and document end-to-end solutions in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including user guides, process documentation and change management materials
- Propose process simplifications and explain envisaged changes to stakeholders.
- Lead end to end process design, from requirements gathering to solution implementation
- Ensure compliance with enterprise strategy, regulations, security rules, and architectural coherence.
- Formalize requirements and functional specifications (solution user stories).
- Provide functional expertise for maintenance, support, and testing alignment with business needs.
Agile Methodology & Collaboration
- Work within Agile (SAFe/Scrum) frameworks to deliver incremental value.
- Conduct Agile rituals and meetings as required.
- Use tools like Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow for task management and documentation.
- Plan and monitor team workloads and project portfolios.
- Report and communicate on squad realizations.
Incident Management & Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents in production environments.
- Ensure timely correction of bugs and implementation of user-requested enhancements.
- Map and document solution developments and interventions in a knowledge base.
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with SAS Base, SAS Macros, SAS SQL, and SAS Enterprise Guide.
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, Spark, and SQL for data access and calculations.
- Experience with data modeling tools like dbt and version control systems like Git/GitHub.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks) and deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/CD).
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Unix), virtualization (Citrix, VMware), and schedulers (HPC).
- Understanding of Solvency II regulations (preferred).
