AIX Engineer / Operator (Senior)
About the Job
This role is designed for a skilled engineer to ensure engineering, daily operation and maintaining a stable AIX environment based on IBM Power Systems. Key responsibilities include optimizing systems for performance and security (vulnerability management), participating in change and incident management, and collaborating on infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with AIX operating system, IBM power hardware and IBM Spectrum Protect technologies backup management, exceptional troubleshooting abilities, and relevant certifications.
What you do
- Managing the AIX environment: ensuring operation, maintenance, development and monitoring. Improve performance and stability of the service.
- Operating and developing platforms (AIX, automation with relevant tools like Ansible and certain administrative applications) as well as monthly patching to address vulnerabilities.
- Analyzing and optimizing systems for performance, security, and availability.
- Plan and document changes ITIL Framework, ensuring all necessary details are captured.
- Co- Managing the IBM Spectrum Protect environment, ensuring operation, maintenance, development and monitoring. Improve performance and stability of the service.
- Plan and execute DR tests based on customer requirements and improve the DR capability aligned with the new license bundle.
- Work closely with IT teams, project managers and business stakeholders to align AIX infrastructure requirements with business goals.
- Technical alignment with depending on services like network, backup and storage colleagues to ensure compatibility and smooth operation.
- Planning and executing changes, fulfilling customer orders, and creating/updating system and operational documentation.
- Generate reports on system performance, capacity planning and resource utilization and provide evidence for different internal and external audits.
- Participating in change, problem, and incident management.
What you bring
- Extensive experience with AIX operating systems, IBM Power Systems, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), IBM Tape Libraries and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of AIX operating system, IBM Power concepts and best practices.
- Base understanding of Hitachi storage technology.
- Proven experience in managing and maintaining large-scale AIX environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues during backup operations.
- Knowledge of automation Ansible and scripting language as Bash, Python, or similar
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the corresponding area
- Tools Proficiency: Good experience in ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, PowerBI and office products.
- Security Standards and Practices: Solid grasp of ISO 27001, NIST, and GISF security frameworks.
- Network and System Security: Expertise in network protocols, firewall management, and encryption techniques.
- Lifecycle Management: Skilled in managing IT asset lifecycle and EOL/EOS components.
- Change and Patch Management: Deep knowledge of Allianz Change- and Patch-Management Processes.
- Collaboration: Effective collaboration with international teams and stakeholders.
- Communication Skills (English): Clear and concise technical communication in English.
- Cultural Awareness: Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed for backup activities.
- AIX and IBM Power certification or equivalent is preferred.
- AI Basic is mandatory
