About the Role: Allianz Trade Specialty Credit Mid Term is seeking a dynamic and experienced Credit Underwriting Regional Manager to lead and manage our credit underwriting team. This role is pivotal in deploying and steering our credit portfolio, both on an unfunded and funded basis, within the Specialty Credit Mid Term division. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, reviewing, and underwriting credit opportunities, as well as constructing and effectively managing the Specialty Credit Mid Term portfolio. The position is integral to our operations in regional hubs located in London, New York, Singapore, and Paris, and involves collaboration with our private debt asset management entity.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Specialty Expertise Leadership:

    • Lead the underwriting of key transactions across various Specialty product areas.
    • Develop and implement a robust underwriting framework within the Specialty Mid Term expertise.
    • Advise, define, and monitor underwriting guidelines, ensuring adherence to the Authority Matrix with defined Senior Authority levels.
  2. Team Management & Performance:

    • Ensure proactive and impactful underwriting services, delivering the Right Answer First Time to support origination and customer relationships within the Specialty Credit franchise.
    • Collaborate with the SC MT Credit Director to establish efficient work organization for the regional hub.
    • Manage a team of selected SC underwriters from diverse backgrounds, including setting individual targets and identifying training needs.
    • Act as deputy in the absence of the SC Credit Director, validating credit limits and participating in high-level internal and external meetings.
  3. Collaborative Leadership:

    • Serve as the primary expert for underwriting decisions within the Specialty area.
    • Train underwriters and share expertise across junior and senior levels, as well as other departments.
    • Take ownership of cross-expertise and cross-department projects, fostering collaborative decision-making with other Specialty Leads and the Credit Director.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualifications:

    • University degree, preferably at the Master's level. Recognized financial analyst qualifications are advantageous.
    • Over 10 years of experience in Trade Credit Insurance, Banking Industry, Multilaterals, ECAs, or Single-risk Medium Term Credit Insurance Department (CPRI), with exposure to Corporates, Infrastructure, and Trade Finance.
    • Strong analytical skills, including corporate, financial, sectorial, ESG, political risk, and transactional analysis, with exposure to various corporate sectors.
    • Proven ability to make credit decisions and proficiency in reviewing and commenting on loan documentation, including complex legal structures.
  • Preferred Skills:

    • Flexibility and ability to work under time constraints in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment; fluency in English is essential.
    • Strong geopolitical awareness, particularly in emerging markets.
    • Leadership skills, team spirit, and a keen interest in investigating new products and transactions.
