Your challenge
As a Risk Underwriter in the Surety team, you support the execution of Allianz Trade Greece’s Guarantees strategy. Based in Athens and reporting to the Head of Surety, you are involved in the execution of transactions for Letters of Guarantee for new and existing clients. In addition, you handle operational aspects of the department, ensuring compliance with Group underwriting standards and operational procedures while delivering excellent service to our clients
What you will do
- Maintain and update the Allianz Trade database to track all Guarantee transactions and related reports. You act as a key control point before and after each guarantee is issued.
- Perform the underwriting process for both existing and new business, in collaboration with Senior Underwriters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and intermediaries focusing on service quality.
- Aim for maximum retention & utilization of client facilities according to the commercial strategy per client, in collaboration with the Senior members of the team
- Execute and manage incoming & outgoing fronting requests from/to other business units (BUs).
- Join selected client and broker meetings to establish strong relationships and effective collaboration
- Coordinate with Finance to reconcile data and manage operational matters

You are the ideal candidate if you…
- Understand the Guarantees business and have strong technical knowledge of related products and processes, including key players, practices, and regulatory context.
- Understand macroeconomic developments and can connect them with the Guarantees business landscape in Greece.
- Collaborate effectively with brokers and clients, law firms and internal teams
- Assess guarantee transactions critically, with a broad understanding of how different aspects impact a guarantee limit or deal
Qualifications & Skills Needed
- Master’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within financial services, insurance, or banking.
- Familiarity with guarantee instruments, underwriting processes, or credit risk management is a strong plus
- Strong Excel and Outlook skills; experience with AVALIS is a plus.
- Knowledge or broader understanding of KYC, sanctions screening, and compliance procedures.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive with strong communication skills.
- Fluent in Greek and Business English
