What you do

 

  • Ensure timely completion of the bi-annual valuation process and monthly roll-forward valuations.
  • Identify and report on material trends from the valuation process and assess potential impact on future profitability and solvency
  • Provide input into the planning process and ensure projected Profit & Loss and balance sheet items are validated and realistic
  • Analyze a range of data sources as inputs to the parameterization of the Internal Capital Model
  • Monitor the implications of economic change drivers on asset liability management and solvency
  • Contribute to the development, improvement and implementation of actuarial reporting process and risk identification
  • Contribute where relevant to broader AAL projects and initiatives.
  • Consult with stakeholders to analyze the contributions and value of strategic actuarial projects

 

What you bring 

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related discipline
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) or equivalent
  • Comprehensive understanding of organizational financial frameworks and experience in general insurance reserving
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex information, extract meaningful insights and evaluate options for decision making
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with specialized systems, software, databases, presentation, reporting and communication tools
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships internally and externally with clients, intermediaries and service providers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and empower people to develop individual and team potential
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively individually, as well as effectively managing direct reports to organize tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
