The primary purpose of this role is to support the CA&G team in carrying out its broader activities in relation to regulatory affairs, public policy and corporate affairs.
About the Role
- Monitor political, policy, and regulatory trends at Federal and State/Territory levels, including perspectives of political parties, members of parliament, and the public.
- Stay informed on current regulatory proposals, issues, and trends impacting the general insurance sector and Allianz, with a focus on customers, employees, business partners, shareholders, and the broader community.
- Collaborate with the General Manager, CAG team, and senior executives to develop Allianz’s positions on regulatory matters or respond to proposed changes by governments, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research and analysis on insurance regulatory and policy issues, provide advice, and prepare submissions and briefs to support Allianz’s advocacy efforts.
- Design and execute strategies to advocate Allianz’s positions with government officials, members of parliament, ministerial advisers, and other external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with members of parliament, advisers, government officials, and external stakeholders, and collaborate with the Insurance Council of Australia ICA to represent Allianz’s interests.
About you
- Hold tertiary qualifications in business, law, economics, public policy, government, and/or politics, with at least five years of experience in a corporate environment, industry association, ministerial office, or government agency, preferably with knowledge of financial services regulation and general insurance policy issues.
- Demonstrated experience in government relations, regulatory/policy analysis, advocacy, and engaging with MPs, ministerial advisers, government officials, and community/consumer advocates.
- Possess or have the ability to build a strong network of relationships with MPs, advisers, and officials at Federal and/or State levels, particularly in financial services-related portfolios such as Treasury, climate, and emergency services.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, influence outcomes, and deliver complex tasks within constraints, supported by excellent verbal, written communication, and advocacy skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to interpret data, identify trends, and solve problems, combined with effective planning, prioritization, and task management skills.
- A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
