About the role


The Head of Governance and Strategic Insights role will be responsible for shaping the governance and risk culture agenda through strategic insight-led reporting, thought leadership and executive engagement. You will play a critical role in developing and continuously improving governance frameworks, executive reporting, accountability mechanisms and risk culture initiative

 

  • Provide trusted strategic governance advice to the GM Consumer Risk & Compliance and Consumer Leadership Team, influencing decisions on strategic risks, customer outcomes, emerging issues and opportunities.
  • Lead and continuously improve governance frameworks and forums, ensuring effective oversight, decision-making practices and risk governance committee requirements across the division.
  • Develop executive, Board and regulatory reporting, delivering concise, insight-led papers and presentations that focus on trends, emerging risks, implications and recommended actions.
  • Translate complex risk and performance data into actionable insights, enabling leaders to make informed decisions and proactively respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Drive risk culture, maturity and accountability initiatives, including leadership of Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) requirements and regulatory obligations across the division.
  • Build and influence senior stakeholder relationships, providing thought leadership, strategic challenge and executive communications that align governance, risk and business priorities.

 

 

About you

 

  • Extensive experience in risk management, governance, compliance or assurance, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications and experience within regulated industries, preferably insurance or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and obligations, including FAR, CPS 230, conduct risk principles and broader risk management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to develop executive and Board-level reporting, with exceptional presentation skills and the ability to craft compelling narratives and briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated experience driving organisational change in complex, matrixed corporate environments, with the ability to influence strategic outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex information and provide meaningful business insights.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, including partnering with senior leaders, providing expert advice and building trusted professional relationships.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership capability, with experience leading high-performing teams, maintaining strong attention to detail, and effectively influencing risk behaviours across the organisation.
