The Intelligence and Situational Awareness Lead interprets meteorological, hazard, and impact data to enhance situational awareness and support informed decision-making. The role anticipates risks, supports preparedness, and enables coordinated responses to severe weather and multi-hazard events. By transforming complex intelligence into actionable insights, the position strengthens the organisation’s ability to assist customers, partners, and communities through effective disaster response, logistics, and claims management.

 

About the role

  • Maintain situational awareness of severe weather and hazards using meteorological, geospatial, and operational intelligence sources.
  • Analyse meteorological hazards, severe weather patterns, and climate drivers to support predictive intelligence and operational readiness.
  • Monitor severe weather systems and assess potential impacts on customers, communities, and business operations, providing actionable insights.
  • Brief senior decision-makers and support business planning, risk modelling, and hazard outlook development through intelligence analysis.
  • Leverage social media, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and geospatial tools to enhance real-time situational awareness and communicate hazard intelligence effectively.
  • Support actuaries and reinsurers with post-event analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess hazard impacts and operational risks.

 

 

 

 

About you

  • Demonstrated qualifications and experience in meteorology with experience in weather management.
  •  Experience in hazard intelligence or emergency services is beneficial.
  •  Strong analytical and decision-support skills.
  • Proficient in geospatial platforms, data visualization tools, and OSINT analysis.
  • Skilled in operating effectively in high-pressure, data-rich environments.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and impactful information delivery.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
