About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver legal advice, contract negotiation and drafting, and related guidanceto Allianz Australia pertaining to emerging technologies, data protection,privacy, and AI.

  • Provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal guidance on, emerging technologies, commercial and procurement contracts, and privacy, ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and industry standards and regulations.
  • Draft and negotiate a broad range of IT and commercial contracts, including IT supply agreements, SOWs, partnership agreements, and SaaS agreements.
  • Assist in managing legal, regulatory, and commercial risks related to IT, data, privacy, and AI.
  • Conduct legal research on legislative, regulatory, and technology developments in AI, emerging technologies, and privacy. Advise senior legal leadership on recommended policy adjustments and upcoming changes to laws and regulations pertaining to emerging technologies, cyber, and AI.

About you

  • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent), current Australian legal practicing certificate with a minimum of 6 years PQE.
  • Relevant legal experience in-house or at a large law firm, developing expertise in emerging technologies with strong working knowledge of the Australian Privacy Principles, and data governance.
  • Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, concise, strategic, and commercially focused legal advice, with a strong capacity to identify and analyse legal and regulatory risks, draft and lead negotiations, under the guidance of senior legal counsel and legal leadership.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise matters based on risk, updating internal stakeholders, and managing priorities to meet business milestones and project deadlines.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and/or an understanding of human-centered design principles would be advantageous
