About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate a robust balance sheet and capital base planning and forecasting process,  provide meaningful insights on drivers in balance sheet movements to support effective and optmised capital management monitoring to provide the basis to effectively protect and steer Allianz Australia’s capital and balance sheet on a range of financial bases (IFRS / AASB, APRA, Solvency II).

• Coordinate and manage the balance sheet and capital base planning and forecasting process and associated deliverables, focusing on an appropriately designed and implemented control framework, that is able to validate assumptions and ensure accurate balance sheet and capital planning and forecasting.
• Clearly articulate balance sheet drivers to stakeholders, providing critical accounting and regulatory insight, demonstrating subject matter expertise to deliver an end-to-end balance sheet Plan / Forecast to enable effective capital management monitoring and steering.
• Perform ongoing monitoring of Actual balance sheet & capital base positions relative to Plan and drive regular re-forecasting.
• Work with relevant stakeholder areas within Allianz Australia to explain key drivers on a monthly basis, including, but not limited to, the Actuarial Valuations, Capital Management, Tax, Finance Assurance & Control and Finance Business Partnering teams.
• Reconcile monthly movements in balance sheets to support the commentary in Board Reports and the Capital Management Committee.
• Lead engagement with key stakeholders across the business and Finance through regular meetings, advice and reporting, to ensure all required inputs and impacts are considered, aligned to annual planning process and the strategic direction of the enterprise.
• Provide subject matter expertise in relation to balance sheet planning and forecasting process, as well as insights to the drivers for material movements in balance sheet.

About you

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Demonstrated experience in balance sheet management or experience in a financial accounting, statutory or regulatory reporting role within financial services is essential.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply Australian accounting and other relevant industry standards.
• Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making.
• Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, presentation, reporting and communication tools.
• Ability to plan and prioritize effectively, organise tasks, manage competing resources, and demands.
• Proven capability to manage change through the initiation and promotion of organisational transformation, leveraging effective process, collaboration, and communication to foster commitment and participation.
• A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
