The primary purpose of this role is to support the Product Owner, External & Group Reporting Squad by managing the delivery on all external reporting obligations for Allianz entities in a timely, complete and accurate manner and to actively participate in the implementation of changes in response to regulatory and accounting standard changes and ensure the appropriate and robust controls are in place to support these processes.
About the role
- Manage the timely delivery of complete and accurate external reporting including statutory financial statements, regulatory (APRA and RBNZ) returns, Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and New Zealand Statistics returns, including the related month/quarter end closing processes.
- Support the Product Owner in reviewing external reporting deliverables prepared by other team members and manage approval process.
- Analyse and challenge information received from various stakeholders, review and ensure regulatory returns are prepared in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Actively participate in projects to effectively respond to regulatory reporting, accounting standard and business operating changes, as well as keeping up to date with changes to accounting and APRA prudential and reporting standards.

- Lead assessment and implementation of new external reporting processes and capital base impacts to meet new requirements and provide training to squad members on such developments.
- Maintain an appropriate control framework in relation to the external reporting process by ensuring all processes and controls are designed and operating effectively. In addition, adequately documented and updated.
- Actively raise matters and issues that require attention related to external reporting as well as broader financial reporting in Finance division and encourage these behaviours in squad members.
- Proactively improve external reporting processes and controls through appropriate risk recognition and mitigation.
- Actively participate in the capital base projections for annual capital planning processes and calculation processes to ensure accurate capital measures are appropriately estimated.
- Establish strong working relationships within and outside of Finance, be a 'go-to person' for areas of responsibility and understand the business, drivers and the connection to figures reported to lead robust discussions with stakeholders and support the team in developing these networks.
- Participate in initiatives and projects to deliver Finance strategic and operational objectives.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Commerce, Finance or other relevant discipline and CA / CPA qualified.
- Experience in performing APRA/regulatory reporting function in a large and complex financial services organisation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards and APRA prudential standards related to Insurance industry.
- A positive, proactive and resilient attitude to embrace change and innovation in our fast-changing environment.
- Pays high attention to details by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and able to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
- Ability to manage internal client expectations to ensure matters are appropriately triaged and dealt with in accordance with an agreed timeline and scope.
- The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse team members.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret and challenge data and results.
