About the role

 

The primary purpose of this role is to provide expert advice in the pricing, monitoring and management of Natural Perils including assisting the reinsurance department.

 

  • Enhance pricing capabilities and refine risk assessments for natural perils, including riverine flood, cyclone, bushfire, earthquake, and storm-related events, while accounting for technological advances and climate change.
  • Evaluate external data and models and provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis to support perils risk and accumulation management.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse team members and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
  • Leverage customer insights and feedback to prioritise customer interests and deliver value-driven solutions.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and WHS legislation to mitigate risks, ensure safety, and maintain compliance across all activities.
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful environment by adhering to Diversity and Inclusion principles and fostering collaboration among colleagues and customers.

 

 

About you

  • Holds a tertiary qualification in Actuarial studies or a related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of experience in general insurance, catastrophe modelling, reinsurance, or GIS within complex, matrixed organisations.
  • Strong ability to analyse data, identify patterns and trends, and extract meaningful insights to inform decision-making.
  • Demonstrated consulting and influencing skills, with a proven ability to co-create solutions and engage effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands effectively.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
