PURPOSE

Reporting to the Chief Distribution & Marketing Officer, this role will play a strategic role in the geographic region of Melbourne for the day -to-day relationship management for both our existing and new platform and institutional clients.

 As a senior member of our sales team, you will be responsible for securing positive product recommendations and ensuring our products are approved for inclusion on wealth platforms and with institutional partners. This will empower the sales team to engage with dealer groups, advisers, and superannuation funds to drive the achievement of our sales targets for our product offerings.

Additionally, this role involves coordinating and creating presentations for key relationships and platforms, guiding sales team members to meet targeted activity, sales accountability, and ultimately, sales results. A key objective is to build long-term partnerships while expanding our sales within the financial advice ecosystem, including but not limited to:

  • Superannuation Funds
  • Platform providers
  • Dealer groups
  • Dealer group research contacts
  • Financial Advisers
  • Associated providers (administration platforms, financial planning software providers and other related industry participants).

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Role specific

The Senior Institutional & Platform Manager is responsible for driving the sales efforts to secure representation on platforms across the industry and with key institutional clients. This role is instrumental in developing and executing the distribution plan for our platform and institutional clients, ensuring strategic alignment and effective engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Create and maintain tailored strategies for each client, ensuring ongoing alignment with business objectives.
  • Sales Campaigns: Design and implement sales campaigns focused on sales uplift through key platforms.
  • Client Management: Prepare and maintain comprehensive lists of dealer groups, practices, and advisers for the broader sales team to facilitate targeted outreach.
  • Team Leadership: Manage Business Development Associates (BDAs), if applicable, providing guidance and support to achieve team goals.
  • Presentation and Representation: Develop and present relevant materials to various client forums, representing Allianz Retire+ at industry and client events, including conferences.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work collaboratively with the broader sales team, sharing insights and successes to foster a culture of innovation and achievement.
  • Activity Leadership: Assist in driving sales activity at both national and state levels, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and support to Business Development Managers (BDMs) and BDAs, guiding efforts to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain an in-depth understanding of Allianz Retire+ products and services, ensuring effective communication and representation.

 

This important role will work closely with other team members within the Sales and Distribution as well as the broader Allianz Retire Plus team (e.g., marketing and product) as we contribute to the ongoing success of the business at both state and national level.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Head of Product, Head of Marketing in collaboration as we deliver product services and sales and marketing initiatives to our clients.
  • The national distribution team including Key Accounts and other state based teams diriving market feedback and ongoing sales initiatives and campaigns.
  • Front office service teams as we collaborate and generate quotes and feedback to be shared with our new and existing clients
  • Our HR partners as we strive to ensure an outstanding work environment at the state level.

 

External

  • Superannuation Funds,  Platform providers, related Dealer groups, Financial Advisors,: Regularly engage to develop and maintain relationships with key business partners. Assist the sales team as we maintain quality Dealer/Financial Advsior profiles, manage effective communications and to ensure the delivery of leading customer experiences via consistent, valuable and positive interactions. Take ownership of coordinating the resolution of any issues and complaints that may occur.

REQUIREMENTS

Required skills and experience:

  • Senior Sales Experience: Ideally 7-10 years as a senior sales professional, with key relationships in Institutional, Platform, and Wealth Management industries, demonstrating a strong history of sales leadership.
  • Empowering Leadership: Proven experience in empowering individuals and teams to reach their highest potential, recognizing and developing performance, and building talent pipelines to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders, external partners, and suppliers, establishing strong professional relationships and influencing outcomes.
  • Team Management: Leadership and people management skills with a proven record of managing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and achievement.
  • Strategic Execution: Extensive experience in developing and executing business strategies and operational plans aligned with the organization’s vision and purpose, ensuring strategic alignment and operational success.
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrates commercial acumen with insights into market dynamics, opportunities, risks, and competitors within the insurance industry, leveraging these insights to drive strategic decisions.
  • Communication and Technical Expertise: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting with clarity and influence, along with sound technical knowledge of the market, including retirement products and legislation, and the ability to share this information effectively across teams.
