The primary purpose of this role is to lead and drive the portfolio management and technical excellence initiatives for products and portfolios within the role remit, to ensure financial targets and portfolio strategy are delivered.

 

About the role

  • Leading the development and implementation of Portfolio Strategies, incorporating insights from market, competitor, and customer research, and ensuring alignment with the annual Financial Plan.
  • Defining and leading the monitoring of market, competitor, and performance trends, and developing insights that are driving strategic pivots as needed, including establishing targets and definitions of KPIs and relevant measurement indices.
  • Contributing to the setting of risk appetite for products and portfolios within remit, in line with the enterprise risk appetite statement, and ensuring adherence to the set thresholds.
  • Defining and maintaining appropriate Target Markets based on insights and data, and actively managing portfolio exposure to comply with accumulation management requirements.
  • Driving continuous monitoring of trends and growth opportunities, including identifying underperforming segments and leading remedial actions to address performance variances.
  • Leading the technical contribution to enterprise financial planning processes and engaging stakeholders to drive aligned portfolio actions.
  • Leading communications on enterprise-wide product and portfolio topics, engaging stakeholders to identify and implement portfolio actions across key levers, and preparing reports for enterprise and divisional forums such as Smart Circle.
  • Establishing pricing strategies by liaising with the pricing team, ensuring pricing adequacy, and supporting capability development to meet growth and profitability targets.
  • Supporting the implementation and identification of opportunities for more granular rating tools and new data sources to enhance pricing capabilities.
  • Providing recommendations on commercial pricing decisions in alignment with portfolio performance objectives, and in compliance with pricing governance and risk frameworks.

 

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Science, Finance or related disciplines highly desirable.
  • Extensive portfolio management experience in a senior management role for a complex, matrixed financial services organisation.
  • Deep technical Insurance experience in managing commercial insurance products using data lead insight
  • Experience managing data analysts is essential, along with working experience across Data Analytics solutions eg SAS, SQL, Python and visualization tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of products, industry practices and governing legislation.
  • Expert, strategic, tactical selling and relationship management capability
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking abilities to evaluate complex alternatives, make confident judgements and develop innovative, sophisticated solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence.
