About the role

 

The primary purpose of this Line 1 Risk role is to assist in leading the implementation, execution and monitoring of the risk and compliance management framework.

 

  • Provide advice on the design, implementation, ongoing monitoring and maintenance of division-specific compliance and risk frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring that business activities remain within the defined risk appetite.
  • Provide advice on the implementation and promotion of risk frameworks and policies, liaising closely with the Second Line of Defence on all division-specific risk management and compliance matters. Ensure that quarterly risk declarations, risk views, and all risk and control assessment activities are up-to-date and adhered to.
  • Advise on current and emerging risk management matters the division faces and assist in the development of processes to manage risk in line with the Board-approved risk appetite and the Allianz Risk Management Framework.
  • Support and advice the business in the development, execution, and monitoring of remedial activity for incidents. Provide insights on root cause(s) and recommend actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure timely resolution and escalation where required.
  • Contribute to strengthening governance, risk management, the internal control environment, and the overall risk culture.
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators and internal control performance to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the management of breaches, incidents, key and emerging risks, controls performance, and regulatory change.

 

About you

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management at a Senior manager level in Line 1 within financial services or consulting is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing risk levels and executing plans to mitigate risks.
  • Strong technical understanding of the design and operational effectiveness of controls.
  • Experience in process and control design, and the ability to identify operational and compliance risks.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and develop actionable insights.
  • Solid understanding of relevant laws, legislation, regulations, and prudential standards affecting general insurers.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence risk behaviour across the organisation.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
