Technical Project Manager _D2488

About the Role
We are looking for a technically strong and delivery-focused Technical Project Manager to lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade Conversational AI solutions built on the Cognigy.AI platform. This is not a traditional PM role — you will be expected to roll up your sleeves, contribute to hands-on bot development and integration work, while simultaneously managing project delivery, stakeholder communication, and team performance.
You will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the engineering team, bringing both strategic project oversight and the technical credibility to make informed architectural decisions, review code and flow logic, and unblock your team when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery of Conversational AI projects — from discovery and scoping through to deployment and post-go-live support
- Define project scope, milestones, sprint plans, and resource allocation in alignment with business priorities
- Manage risks, dependencies, and escalations proactively; maintain project health dashboards and status reports
- Facilitate agile ceremonies — sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and demos
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, document use cases, and translate them into actionable technical specifications
- Coordinate UAT, manage defect triage, and drive sign-off for production releases
Hands-On Technical Contribution
- Actively contribute to bot development and configuration on the Cognigy.AI platform, including flow design, NLU training, and integration development
- Build and maintain integrations with backend systems (CRM, ERP, ticketing tools) via REST APIs, webhooks, and Cognigy Extensions
- Write and review JavaScript/Node.js code within Cognigy Flows, Functions, and custom Extensions
- Conduct technical reviews of bot flows, NLU models, intent designs, and slot configurations built by the team
- Troubleshoot production issues, debug failed flows, and optimize bot performance metrics such as containment rate and intent recognition accuracy
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup, version control practices, and environment management (Dev / QA / Prod) on Cognigy
Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of bot developers, NLU specialists, and QA engineers
- Set technical standards, review team output for quality, and instill best practices in flow design and development
- Identify skill gaps and support team capability building through coaching and structured knowledge sharing
- Foster a collaborative team culture with a bias for delivery, continuous improvement, and innovation
Stakeholder & Governance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, IT partners, and vendor representatives including Cognigy
- Prepare and present project updates, executive dashboards, and post-deployment reports
- Manage vendor relationships, licenses, and platform upgrade planning in coordination with the Cognigy account team
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, compliance, and security policies in all bot implementations
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience will be considered
Experience
- 6–10 years of overall experience in technology roles, with a clear split between development/engineering and project management
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on software development or integration engineering experience (mandatory)
- Minimum 3–4 years of project management experience, ideally in AI, automation, or enterprise software delivery
- Proven track record delivering Conversational AI / Chatbot / Virtual Agent projects in production environments
- Direct, hands-on experience with Cognigy.AI — including Flow development, NLU management, channel configuration, and Cognigy Extensions
Technical Skills
- Cognigy.AI: Flow Editor, Intent Management, Slots & Lexicons, Endpoints (voice and digital), Live Agent handoff, Analytics, and Cognigy Functions
- Programming: Proficiency in JavaScript / Node.js (used within Cognigy Flows and Extensions); familiarity with TypeScript is a plus
- API Integration: REST API design and consumption, webhook configuration, OAuth/token-based authentication
- NLU/NLP: Understanding of intent classification, entity extraction, training phrase strategy, and confidence thresholds
- DevOps: Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and environment promotion in bot platforms
- Tooling: Jira, Confluence, Postman, VS Code; experience with Azure / AWS deployments is a plus
Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification
- Cognigy Certified Professional (or willingness to complete certification within 90 days of joining)
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certification is a plus
