Job Purpose

We are looking for a Underwriting Supervisor – Casualty & Financial Lines to join our company.
The job holder will oversee the underwriting activities for Mid-Corporate Casualty and Financial lines, ensuring profitable portfolio performance, accurate risk selection, and adherence to Allianz Group standards. The role includes supervising a team of underwriters, managing referrals within authority levels, and supporting key internal and external stakeholders.
This role reports to the Underwriting Manager - P&C Commercial / Cyprus Branch Manager.

 

What you will do

Underwriting Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the full underwriting process for MidCorp Casualty lines (General Liability, Employer’s Liability, Professional Indemnity, Financial Lines)
  • Oversee the full underwriting process for Financial Lines
  • Ensure consistent application of Allianz Group underwriting rules, pricing models, and governance standards
  • Review and authorize underwriting decisions within assigned authority levels
  • Conduct regular technical quality reviews and underwriting audits to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and coach a team of MidCorp Casualty underwriters, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
  • Support talent development through mentoring, upskilling programs, and individual development plans
  • Manage workload distribution, monitor performance, and support the People & Culture framework of Allianz Greece

Portfolio Management & Risk Assessment

  • Monitor portfolio KPIs, including loss ratio trends, rate adequacy, and exposure accumulation
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks, market trends, and opportunities for portfolio optimization
  • Collaborate with actuarial, pricing, claims, and risk management teams to ensure sustainable profitability

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Distribution and MidCorp Sales teams to support technical discussions with brokers and key clients
  • Partner with Claims, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure end-to-end service quality
  • Represent underwriting in strategic meetings, renewal negotiations, and major account discussions

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal audit findings, and Allianz Group policies
  • Maintain accurate, timely underwriting records and contribute to reporting on portfolio performance
  • Support internal and external audits, implementing corrective actions where needed

 

What you bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Law, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in Casualty and Financial lines underwriting, ideally in Mid-Corporate segments
  • Previous experience in a senior underwriting or supervisory role is an asset
  • Strong understanding of the Greek P&C market, liability insurance, and corporate risk drivers

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
  • Deep technical knowledge of Casualty and Financial Lines insurance products and pricing methodologies
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to manage complex risks and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of accountability, organization, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in underwriting tools, systems, and MS Office applications
  • High technical fluency in Greek and English (both written and spoken)
