Job Purpose

We are looking for an Underwriting Supervisor – MidCorp Property & Engineering to join our company.
The job holder will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting activities for MidCorp Property and Engineering insurance lines. The role ensures strong technical assessment, portfolio profitability, and compliance with Allianz Group standards. This position will lead a team of underwriters, manage referrals within authority limits, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to support sustainable business growth.
This role reports to the Underwriting Manager - P&C Commercial / Cyprus Branch Manager.

 

What you will do

Underwriting Oversight & Technical Excellence

  • Supervise the complete underwriting lifecycle for Property and Engineering lines (Fire, Business Interruption, Machinery Breakdown, Contractors’ All Risks, Erection All Risks, Electronic Equipment, and related products)
  • Ensure adherence to Allianz Group underwriting guidelines, pricing models, accumulation controls, and governance requirements
  • Review and approve underwriting decisions based on authority levels
  • Conduct periodic file reviews to maintain documentation quality and technical consistency

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Property & Engineering underwriters
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical development, and high performance
  • Conduct performance reviews, support upskilling programs, and implement development plans aligned with Allianz People & Culture standards
  • Ensure fair workload allocation and efficient team operations

Portfolio Management & Risk Monitoring

  • Monitor portfolio KPIs including loss ratios, rate adequacy, accumulation exposure, and segment profitability
  • Identify trends, emerging risks, and growth opportunities
  • Work with actuarial, pricing, and risk management teams to implement corrective actions and optimize portfolio performance
  • Contribute to budget planning and forecasting for MidCorp Property & Engineering lines

Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Partner with Distribution and MidCorp Sales teams to support technical discussions, major account visits, and renewal negotiations
  • Collaborate with Claims, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure quality service across the value chain
  • Represent underwriting in internal committees, broker presentations, and strategic business initiatives

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks
  • Maintain accurate underwriting records and support internal and external audits
  • Prepare and deliver reporting on portfolio performance, market insights, and underwriting activities
  • Promote sustainability and risk mitigation practices aligned with Allianz Group standards

 

What you bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related technical field
  • 5–7 years of experience in Property and/or Engineering underwriting, preferably in Mid-Corporate segments
  • Experience in a senior underwriting or supervisory role is an asset
  • Solid understanding of Greek P&C market and technical risk evaluation

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced technical expertise in Property and Engineering insurance products
  • Excellent risk assessment, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • High sense of accountability and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in underwriting tools, pricing systems, and MS Office applications
  • High technical fluency in Greek and English (both written and spoken)
