Role Overview

The Head of Data Management is the global executive leader responsible for building and governing the Finance data architecture required to enable a digital, automated, and AI-powered Finance function. This includes establishing enterprise-grade data governance, ensuring master and reference data consistency, and enabling the data foundations needed for analytics, automation, machine learning, and GenAI-driven use cases across Finance.


What you do

1.Finance Data Strategy, Governance & AI Readiness

  • Define the global Finance data strategy incorporating AI-readiness and GenAI guardrails.
  • Establish policies, ownership models, and controls enabling responsible and compliant use of AI-driven capabilities.
  • Drive the definition of master data, reference data, and semantic data layers optimizing AI/ML consumption.
  • Lead global governance forums ensuring transparency, accountability, and data stewardship across all Finance entities.

2. Data Architecture & Digital Platform Enablement

  • Shape the Finance data architecture powering S/4HANA, cloud data lakes, analytics platforms, and AI/GenAI accelerators.
  • Partner with Technology and Group Data to ensure alignment with enterprise data models and AI platform strategy.
  • Define data integration patterns, feature pipelines, and strategies for structured/unstructured data supporting automation and intelligent workflows.
  • Ensure Finance data is accessible and fit for AI-enabled decision support, smart reconciliations, automated controls, and GenAI content generation.

3. Data Quality, Controls, Compliance & AI Safety

  • Implement a data quality framework with automated checks, ML-based anomaly detection, and risk scoring.
  • Ensure data lineage, auditability, and explain ability to support regulatory, audit, and AI governance requirements.
  • Oversee secure data handling and access controls aligned with GenAI usage policies.
  • Ensure Finance data meets IFRS, Solvency II, internal controls, and emerging AI regulatory standards.

4. AI, GenAI & Advanced Analytics Enablement

  • Identify AI/ML and GenAI opportunities across Finance, such as automated narratives and predictive forecasting.
  • Enable creation of Finance-specific GenAI knowledge bases, semantic search, and RAG architectures.
  • Build data assets and metadata structures optimized for AI/GenAI model training, fine-tuning, and safe deployment.
  • Promote self-service analytics, AI copilots, and automation tools backed by governed data.

5. Capability Building & Organizational Data Literacy

  • Drive Finance-wide data literacy, upskilling teams on data governance, AI safety, and responsible GenAI usage.
  • Foster a culture of data ownership, transparency, and innovation around AI and analytics.
  • Support transformation rollouts by ensuring teams are AI-ready and able to leverage data-driven capabilities.
     

What you bring

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance data management, enterprise data governance, or large-scale AI-enabled transformation.
  • Strong expertise in Finance data structures, S/4HANA master data, data lakes, and integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, GenAI architectures, and enterprise AI governance frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with DAMA, metadata management, lineage, cataloging, and cloud data architectures.
  • Proven leadership in implementing global data standards in complex organizations.
  • Strong communication skills to translate advanced AI/data concepts into business impacts for senior executives.
