We are looking for a Value Added Tax Expert (m/f/d), based in Munich on a temporary 2 year fixed term contract.  

  

Your Team  

Our team oversees and coordinates tax and transfer pricing matters at Allianz Commercial globally. We are committed to safeguarding Allianz Commercial’s reputation as responsible taxpayer, to efficiently managing tax matters and contributing to Allianz Commercial’s business success through best practice strategic tax advice. 

 

The Impact You Will Have  

In this role, you will assume global responsibility for indirect taxes at Allianz Commercial, in collaboration with internal and external tax experts as well as the Allianz Group tax function. You will be in charge to ensuring the organization complies with the increasing external requirements regarding indirect taxes, especially value added tax and insurance premium tax. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the business to maintain and continuously strengthen the relevant internal processes and controls. The holder of the position reports directly to Head of Tax and Transfer Pricing of Allianz Commercial and has regular interaction with indirect tax team of Allianz Group headquarters. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Take overall ownership and ensure tax compliance with regard to indirect taxes in Allianz Commercial 

  • Monitor changes to global and local tax laws and regulations in indirect tax area and perform qualitative and quantitative impact analysis. Observe and evaluate business developments within Allianz Commercial group with regards to impact on indirect taxes. Coordinate implementation of tax requirements upon tax law developments and business or organizational changes as well as Allianz Group requirements  

  • Be a qualified entry point for indirect tax topics into the organization. Co-ordinate or provide tax advisory services for projects, initiatives and day-to-day requests  

  • Systematically identify, assess and manage indirect tax risks in Allianz Commercial. Manage tax audits in indirect tax area  

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Allianz Commercial compliance management system in indirect tax area. Ensure awareness of tax requirements at functions involved in activities relevant for indirect taxes, e.g., by issuing tax guidelines or offering / coordinating tax trainings  

  • Be the ultimate escalation point for indirect tax issues, prepare decisions where unclear or undefined  

  • Drive efficiency and best practice sharing in indirect tax area 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Taxation or Law (or other related field)  

  • Certified tax advisor  

  • 5+ years prior experience as tax advisor, inhouse tax manager or tax auditor  

  • Expert knowledge in Value Added Tax, experience in insurance premium tax is an advantage  

  • Ability to work independently as member of cross-functional and international teams  

  • Excellent analytical skills 

  • Very good verbal and written communication skills   

  • Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)  

  • You should be able to integrate AI-driven insights into your work to optimize outcomes and support broader organizational goals. 

 

Ideally:  

  • Experience in insurance or financial industry 

  • Project management skills 

  • Drive to gain new knowledge
