Director of the Accounting and Reporting Department (f/m/d)

Your Responsibilities:

1. Managing Accounting and Reporting:

• Overseeing the quality of financial data and maintaining accounting records in compliance with applicable standards and regulations
• Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
• Establishing effective controls over accounting and reporting processes
• Supervising the preparation of financial statements in accordance with local and international accounting standards, as well as reports required for solvency purposes
• Reporting financial results to the Management Board and other stakeholders
• Coordinating financial audits and cooperating with external auditors

2. Risk Management:

• Identifying, assessing, and monitoring financial risks related to accounting and financial reporting
• Implementing and overseeing control mechanisms to mitigate risks
• Ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and legal regulations
• Collaborating with the risk management department to identify and assess risks

3. Team Management:

• Leading the accounting and reporting team and developing employee competencies
• Motivating the team to achieve goals and ensuring work efficiency
• Implementing new and improving existing processes, technologies, and solutions to automate accounting and reporting processes and strengthen the control environment in this area

4. Other Responsibilities:

• Supporting other organizational units by sharing insights gained from monitoring financial performance
• Assisting other units in their ongoing projects

Our Requirements:

• University degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; additional professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) are welcome
• At least seven years of experience in accounting, finance, or reporting roles, preferably in the insurance or financial sector
• At least five years of team management experience, with proven ability to motivate and develop team members
• Knowledge of local and international accounting standards and insurance sector regulations such as Solvency II
• Ability to ensure regulatory compliance and implement effective control mechanisms
• Strong skills in financial data analysis, trend identification, and drawing conclusions to support strategic decision-making
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, essential for financial reporting and cross-departmental collaboration
• Very good command of English (min. B2 level)
• Experience with accounting and reporting systems and the ability to leverage technology to enhance financial processes
• Strategic thinking and long-term planning skills to support the company’s business goals
• Familiarity with available AI tools such as ChatGPT
