Transactional Accounting Manager - Central Europe

Position Summary
In this role, you take ownership of ensuring smooth and efficient Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting operations across several regional entities. The focus is on driving accuracy, maintaining strong compliance, and delivering a timely month‑end close. By working closely with global and regional teams, you contribute to delivering reliable, high‑quality financial services.
Key Responsibilities
Transactional Accounting and Close
- Lead day-to-day AP, AR, General Accounting and cash application for multiple entities.
- Deliver timely, accurate month- and quarter-end close, with balance sheet integrity and complete supporting schedules.
- Maintain strong accounting controls, reconciliations and compliance with company policies and local regulations.
- Serve as a key finance contact during audits, close reviews and for statutory requirements.
Operational leadership
- Manage and develop team leads and accounting professionals; set clear accountabilities and manage performance.
- Build a culture of ownership, service quality and continuous improvement within transactional finance teams.
- Support onboarding of new entities, customers or partners into established accounting processes.
Stakeholder and service management
- Act as the primary operational interface for Controllership, FP&A, Tax and Shared Services.
- Oversee centralized service relationships related to transactional accounting activities.
- Escalate risks, control gaps or delivery issues with clear remediation plans.
Process improvement and transformation support
- Support implementation of process improvements, system enhancements and automation (e.g., RPA).
- Partner with central Finance Transformation/Digital teams to deploy agreed solutions.
- Identify efficiency opportunities while maintaining control and compliance standards.
Qualifications and experience
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 5+ years’ leadership experience across AP, AR, General Accounting and close cycles.
- Proven experience managing multi-entity accounting operations, ideally in an SSC or centralized finance model.
- Strong understanding of controls, reconciliations and close governance.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Exposure to IFRS and local GAAP environments.
- Fluency in English and Polish; additional European languages are an advantage.
- Experience supporting process improvement or automation initiatives is desirable.
- Basic familiarity with available AI tools such as ChatGPT.
- Insurance or financial services experience is a plus.
