We are looking for a Senior Underwriter (m/f), Construction and Natural Resources based in Vienna, supporting the region Central Europe (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine).

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Regional Head of Underwriting Property and Engineering, Central Europe, you will join the team as a Senior Underwriter, who will aim to make profitable new and renewal business to meet targets in the Lines of Business (LoB) Construction and Natural Resources for Central Europe. We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving and developing a customer centric culture at Allianz Commercial and loves to work in a global matrix organization. Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets and contribute to the growth of the Construction and Natural Resources portfolio.

Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. Proactively manage capacity.

Contribute to development and execution of global Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally.

Support local operating entities with the delivery and execution of technical excellence, growth aspirations and continued profitability.

Understand and steer portfolio performance in support of the regional and local underwriting teams.

Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including underwriters).

Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market with key brokers / distribution channels.

Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. Distribution, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers).

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Preferably a degree in Engineering, Economics, Law or other appropriate discipline.

Significant experience in underwriting in the Construction, Engineering or Natural Resources market or significant experience working as a broker in the LoB.

Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market.

Excellent understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global element.

Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework.

Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB.

Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings.

Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, convince and motivate others to act, without executive authority.

Ability to integrate AI-driven insights into your work to optimize outcomes and support broader organizational goals.

Fluent English skills are required, German skills or any other language skills are a plus.

Annual gross salary: Approximately EUR 100.000 - depending on qualifications there is a willingness to overpay.
