We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability based in Vienna.

The Liability Underwriting team works with large to mid-sized national and international corporate clients in Central Europe, offering an extensive array of both general and specialized insurance products. With a team of highly specialized and experienced professionals spread across 10 countries, we ensure a strong foundation for our operations. By maintaining constant and direct communication with our clients and their advisors, we foster strong relationships and understanding. As a unified team, we not only embody trust, honesty, competence, and support but also take concrete responsibility in all our endeavors.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Liability, you will play a key role in expanding Allianz Commercial's Liability business in Austria and across Central Europe. Your expertise will drive the development and implementation of underwriting strategies, ensuring profitable growth and high-quality service delivery. By analysing risks, crafting tailored solutions, and fostering strong client relationships, you will contribute significantly to our market leadership in the Central Europe Region. Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Underwrite new and renewal Liability business, focusing on profitability and adherence to guidelines.

Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure competitive and profitable deals.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers, providing excellent service.

Ensure accurate and timely policy documentation and file maintenance.

Conduct risk assessments and make informed underwriting decisions.

Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to adjust strategies as needed.

Collaborate with internal teams to support comprehensive risk evaluation.

Contribute to the development and execution of the regional underwriting strategy for the Line of Business regionally.

Train, develop, and coach staff.
What You’ll Bring to the Role

Degree in Law, Economics, or any other relevant discipline.

Ideally, professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).

5+ years of experience underwriting profitable business in Liability in a large corporate international insurance or broker.

Recognized relationships with clients and brokers at the peer group level. You are well-established within the market.

Specialized understanding of regional/local liability insurance markets and multinational programs.

Ability to leverage data and analytics to make business processes more efficient and effective.

Advanced risk assessment and outstanding analytical skills.

Good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.

Ability to design, develop, and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.

Advanced communication and presentation skills.

Intercultural skills and ability to work in a complex, global matrix organization.

A team player who works in open collaboration with others.

Fluent in German and English.
